Hello
I started a campaign before the launch of winter storm for CoC. I'm trying to play Stalingrad Heroes All to the end, BEFORE beginning Winter Storm...
I had a solo game ( http://2d6.fr/?p=3107 (http://2d6.fr/?p=3107) )
and got some very strange dice.. for "my opponent" ! Several times :'(
( I had bad luck in our previous game http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,10335.msg125318.html#msg125318 (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,10335.msg125318.html#msg125318) )
My officer led the attack :
and the russians suffered :

Although these strange dice, I really like this game. One day I'll win, yes, one day....
;)
That's the spirit, Ronan !
Next time !!.....Or the next.... ;)
Cheers - Phil.

I can ! yes, I'm strange 8-}
I had a new game on this campaign :
http://2d6.fr/?p=3223 (http://2d6.fr/?p=3223)
Many russians counter attacked :
How could I missed this flank shot ?! Dice really hate me ! ;D
(http://2d6.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/CoC_StalingradHeroes_II-2_20141226_10.jpg)
But I finally won this game. My poor soldiers suffered, I don't know how they will fight the next battles.

Tres bien Ronan,
Good to see you posting reports again.
Unit retires to the second line for R&R, but has to deal with infiltration and snipers?
:-bd :-bd :-bd
Now change your dice to working ones!! ;D ;D
:-bd :-bd
Cheers - Phil
Thank you guys !

Where do I buy such dice ? ( I don't want yours, as I recall, Peter, you're not very lucky too... :P )

Now all joking aside, why would they even make such dice :-\

And who should use them ? :o
Oh.....Send them over to me.....I'll rig any that aren't transparent for you. ;)
Cheers - Phil
Actually, I have a set of six-sided dice numbered 4 to 6 twice. They were made especially for a set of American football rules we used to play.

Well, that's almost instantly screwed if you play a warmaster variant then :-\
Better not play soviets in BKC ;D ;D ;D
Strangely enough, my opponents won't let me use them in DBR. How unsporting is that? :'( :'( :'(
Many many years ago, when a 'd20' was a twenty-sided die marked 0-9 twice with half the numbers painted in to represent the 'teens', I played with one die for about a year before realising it had two '1's and no '11'... >:(

Ouch ! :o
And Happy New Year, Ronan, I hope you're having a great time, and getting some gaming in :D

Hello
As I already wrote, I don't have much time to play nor to write AARs.. BUT this is the game I had in this solo campaign ! :) ( very short AAR )
http://2d6.fr/?p=3439 (http://2d6.fr/?p=3439)
I should call this AAR : "It's a monster !"
Take care guys (and girls) !
That really is a beast.
Not exactly low profile is it?
Formidably formidable! Fab! :D
Nice stuff, Ronan !
Cheers - Phil
Nice model, Ronan, but, like a lot of these super-weapons, not very reliable.
What is it?
This isn't helping with my Chain of Command temptation >:( ;D
Interesting game, a bit challenging for the Germans ;)
It's a KV II Getagrip, Russian HEAVY tank early in the war
Cheers Paul.
I'm new to all the historical stuff :)
Thank you guys !

No.. I saw it far away.. But could not really fire at it ! :'(

What is it?
It's a russian KV-2. Not reliable as Hertsblue said ( may be that's why my virtual opponent 'only' got one ?) But a very tough beast. And I didn't get the right support ( war is not fair ! ;) )

(...)
You could NOT resist, you know it ! ;D :d
Yes, challenging. I should have withdraw earlier, but I tried to win "by morale"..
GetAGrip, welcome to this era ! lots of fun real stuff ! ;)
There really is but it's hard to know when to stop.
I think mistakes may be made ;D
Any shade of KV will ruin your day if you don't have some heavy duty Anti-tank ready. The KV-2 is especially suited to destroying infantry (and buildings...)
... but has a tendency to either break down or fall over on steep terrain!
I think i read somewhere, that the turret was so heavy, that if you drove up a slope/hill with the turret pointing sideways, you would be unable to turn it to the front because of the weight :o :o :o
Can't find the source right away, but i am 99% i read that somewhere..
Certainly you couldn't fire it to the side while on a slope, at best it would wreck the turret ring or the suspension, at worse topple the whole tank over! Quite possible the turret drive (whether powered or hand-cranked) wasn't strong enough to turn it on a slope.
It sticks out like a sore thumb, can't believe they didn't get blown to bits!
One is reputed to have held up an entire panzer division for three days during the 1941 invasion of Russia. But grossly underpowered for its weight.
It just looks "wrong."
Wouldn't want to face one though :(

Oh non, I like those "strange" tanks ! :x
You're right Peter, I also remember this..
I liked this game even if I failed ( who said "as usual" ?! ;) ) because I should have been clever.
"I liked this game even if I failed ( who said "as usual" ?! Wink ) because I should have been clever."
I know exactly what you mean, and better luck next time, brother. :D :D
V/R,
Jack
I was lucky to play 3 times last week ( the normandy game, an ACW - but not in 10mm - and this one)
It was the last scenario for my campaign. Not the last scenario from the book ! I was not able to seize Stalingrad, and had to withdraw.

( Next time.. I'll WON ! >:( )
;D
Those are a lot of deaad russians :o
Nice report!

Yes, my men where veterans now...
Well, those russians won't be veteran now i guess :)
Do you ever roll for the other side's casualties?

no, I usually play russian, so I understand what it means... ;)

I'm not sure I understood your answer.. After each game, for each men down I throw a die :
1-2 and he's dead.
3-4 he's wounded and can't be played for 1d3 scenarios,
5-6 he's ok (
and may be I should watch where he went ... :-\ ) ( The ATSE campaign rules has a similar rules, but I kept mine.)
For my "opponent" in this solo campaign, I did not use the die.
( Damaged vehicles may go to the back lines to repair, missing 1d3 scenarios as well )

I just wondered if you rolled a die for the russian casualties :)
Reason is, i once did a solo campaign, where i rolled for casualties on the other side too, and when they survived, make little scenarios like wounded men getting back to their lines at night, locals helping them get to a safehoue etc...
Really fun and short games. (was not a ww2 campaign though)
I didn't have to, as it is already in the campaign. Winning or losing some scenarios will change the next one etc.
But we used this in our CoC mini campaign "France 1940". I had detailed OB for each force.
Every idea to improve the excitment of gaming is welcome ! :)
