How does one get pics into their posts?
Thought I might brave showing some of the lads.
Simon
I upload mine to Photobucket. When I post a pic I follow this routine:
1. Write what I want to say then drop the cursor to the next line.
2, Click on the picture icon, it's the third in from the left above the smiley faces. This should appear (http://).
4. I have put Photobucket in my bookmarks bar, I now click on that and go to my Photobucket library.
5. Next I click on the photo I want to show, which enlarges it.
6. To the photo's right you will see a menu. Click on the one which is called Direct. In the box 'copied ' will flash up in yellow.
7. Once that has happened click on the arrow at the top of the screen which takes me back through the previous pages to my forum post.
8. I then hover the cursor over the (//) and bring up the on screen menu.
9. I then click on 'paste' and a long stream of letters and numbers appear between the two [img] in square brackets.
10. VERY IMPORTANT - the first bracket of the final img will have disappeared. Usually the cursor is flashing away in the correct place. Put the square bracket back in. If you want to add more text don't forget to put the cursor outside the brackets,
It's a long-winded process, but after a few posts it embeds into your neural pathway. What I have found is that if I post photos on a fairly regular basis I don't forget the process. Good luck.
9. I then click on past
Looking at my post I see ? hass appeared where I have said this should appear. What should actually appear is [img][img]
DP, agree entirely. If you want to avoid clicking back through previous pages, open Photobucket in a separate tab and then click between the two tabs. Saves a lot of time if you're posting many pics. Oh, and I always preview the post, just to check the link is working.
Yes I always check it's gone through. Incidentally I have discovered that if you post a pic from your library and later move the picture in photobucket from your main library to a separate album it will erase the photo from the Pendraken forum. Best to put the photo in the album before posting.
Yep, moving anything in Photobucket always had a very strange effect.
How I post pics:
Open this forum and the Photobucket album
Create the post with the "[img]" tags in place but empty
Go to photobucket and find the picture
Click on the picture to enlarge it.
Right click to bring up the options menu and select Copy Image Location (in Firefox, not sure about other browsers)
Back to the forum and click between the two relevant img tags and Paste (Ctrl+V works)
If, when you preview, the image is too big edit the first img tag to include a width setting like this "[img width=700]" - without the " which are just there in my post to stop the thing trying to treat my text as a picture!! I find a range somewhere between 600 and 800 is usually about right depending on the shape and size of the pic.
Copy Image Location works on most images.
Not sure if that helps any.
