Hi chaps,
Just painted a couple of the buildings and now thinking about doing the flexi base, i think iv'e read somewhere that emulsion paint is best for the basecoat, not sure if emulsion is available here in Hungary, anyone tried normal spray paint or is that a bad idea.
thanks for any advice,
kev
I used craft acrylic paint for these. A liberal coating of dark brown, then picked out details using normal Vallejo paints.
I'm not sure emulsion would stick well, and I think they say to avoid spray paints as they will crack.
Have you got the painting guide from TBM? I think they send it by email.
Cheers Fred, no i dont have the guide but i can get the craft acrylics here, i'll give it a go at the weekend.
thanks,
kev
Wash them first and base coat in a mix of paint and pva as they can 'flake' your paint!
;)
I imagine washes would be the way to go.
Thank's chap's, i can see the pva being a good idea Lemmey, i'll let you know how i get on.

Missing your full stops for abbreviation there F.K.?
WTF? OMG!
My first attempt at TBM buildings, firstly these are excellent models and i'd highly recommend them, i'm very pleased how the houses have turned out, not to happy with my attempt at the road so i think a re paint is on the cards for that, but overall very happy. The scenic matt has taken the paint well (acrylic craft paint with a touch of watered down PVA) and no sign of any cracking or flaking.
Thanks for all the advice folks.

Actually I quite like the look of that road.
Superb, Kev. But then, we'd expect nothing less. 8)
Agree with Herts Kev, road looks damn good.
Garden looks like it needs some cabbages though :)
Looks very good, including the road!
Cabbages are never needed for anything but Sauerkraut. And that in moderation. I have spoken.
No cabbages. Could be spring and they're still seeds under the soil.
The models, the buildings and the road all look fine to me. I wouldn't repaint any of it.
Looking fab!
I have got to find a reason to buy that house with the shutters - probably early WWI.
Early ww2? Scw? Anything on Mexico? FPW if you change the colour scheme?
Mexico??? :)
Caramba! We don' need no steenking French architecture.
Maximilian Adventure? War of 1836? Even Louisiana...
Oh, sorry FK, were you thinking Aztecs again? ;)
I, for one, am definitely thinking France.

FPW if you change the colour scheme?
???? Wow! The French had a special colour scheme for a single war? :o :o. If only they had spent the time, effort and resources on their army instead of colour coordinating their towns would history have been different? I think we should be told! :D :D ;)
Mollinary
Mollinary,
I'm disgusted you didn't know this. :o Oh yes, FPW was oatmeal, Napoleonic wars was beige, WWI was tope, WW2 was magnolia.
When a repaint is ordered, the French know they are going to war.
It was more difficult before 1914 as everything was still in black and white.
;D ;D ;D ;D
A couple of TBM buildings placed together as a farm. 2mm MDF base, N gauge resin stone walls, KM tree, 'old school' flock. Turned out quite nice, I think.

CS
I do like these - the vegetable garden is very cool.
Very, very nice work, Captain. 8)
Cheers - Phil
Thanks chaps,

A few bits and pieces of clutter, e.g. Barrels, crates, would really finish it off nicely
Brilliant captain

I like your thinking, Paul. I was looking for barrels in 10mm but couldn't find any. There are some in N gauge but only modern, steel barrels and as this is for my early to mid 16th century Ottomans and Hapsburg Austrians, that won't work. I did buy a set of N gauge small farm animals and they may well make an appearance at some stage. N gauge stuff can be deeply lovely but it aint' cheap :-\
Have a look at the artillery accessories pack in the pendraken ECW range - it has all sorts of useful clutter
Also in the dungeon range there are some useful crates and other bits
Check that Pendraken catalogue. all this stuff is in there:

Ooooh, more shiny-ness! Thanks, Leman.

I bought it at York.
