What ho chaps!
I've had a pack of Winter Peussians that I 'inherited' at the same time as my Wurttenbergers (about 5 year ago). All my other Prussians are in Summer dress and basing. Any suggestions? Really don't want to have to start all 12 Corps again in winter order too!!
Any units attack at Gravelotte/Saint Privat in trench coats?
Puzzled. :-\

Nope! E bay or the Russian front may be your best solutions! :D
Paint & sell :)
Good practise, and a bit of cash never hurts :D
But what sized bases should I put them on (mine are quite 'niche' at 3" by 3")?
Erm, yes. Fire & Fury size-ish? Either that or a larger single regiment sized one!
Have some troops in great coats to break up the monotony.
Or don't base them - pop a piccy on the auction of other basing you've done and say "if you want them based, email me post auction with details and cost will be XXX extra"?

Or this. :)
Paint them up and buy Danes to oppose them for the 1864 Schleswig-Holstein War.
Now that is a good idea.
Ohhh!
Now THAT'S a winner. :D
Well said Lem.
As owner of a Danish 1864 army I'm proud to have tempted someone else over to the very obscure 'Dark side' of gaming - the Schleswig Holstein wars! Lol!
Okay,
Sources needed now...
Mollinary. Camerionian. I know you guys will set up here.
Mike Embree's "Bismarck's First War" and Bruce Weigle's 1859, which includes rules and scenarios for 1864. Prussian Army for the War:
A composite corps consisting of 6th and 12th Divisions. In addition an ad hoc division of Guards. Two cavalry Brigades, and a hodge podge of artillery, in four, six, and eight guns batteries, including 6pdr and 12pdr smoothbores, 7pdr howitzers, 6pdr rifles, and one battery of 4pdr rifles. Infantry regiments are 35,7. 24,64. 13,53. 15,55. 7 Jäger Btn. 7 Dragoons
Cavalry regiments 3H, 6K. 8H, 4K.
Guards: 3,4 Foot Guards. 3,4 Guard Grenadiers. Guard Hussars.
So a bit of an opportunity to blood a lot of the new boys from the post 1861 regiments, with a stiffening of earlier ones.
Over to Cameronian! Uniforms, pretty much as 1866.
Mollinary
The Danes in greatcoat look to be a doddle to paint as well - black greatcoat, dark blue field cap. Incidentally Bruce Weigle's 1864 rules show that the battles tended to be pretty small as he has most of them in quarter scale, so maybe an opportunity to do something like RF&F.
Embree lists 6th and 13th divisions.
6th Divn - 35, 60, 24 and 64. 11th Uhlans. 8x7dr Howitzers, 6x6dr rbl and 6x 12pdr sml
13th Divn - 13, 35,15 qnd 55. 7th Jager. Artillery as for 6th with extra 12pdr battery.
6th Cavalry Bgde - 6th Cuirassier and 3rd hussars - 4 x 12pdr sml
14th Cavalry bgde - 4th Cuirassier and 4th Hussars - 4 x 12pdr sml
Artillery reserve - Foot - 1 x howitzer battery, 2 x 6pdr batteries and 1 x 12pdr battery
- Horse - 4 x 6dr sml batteries
Don't forget the Austrian Corps
Chad
Mollinary has said it all really; Mike Embree's BFW and Bruce's 1859 will give you all you need to know. Boring little war dontchathink ?
Chad is of course 100% right >:(. Only cos wot he is betterer than me at copying. Swot >:(. chiz , chiz
Molesworthinary :D ;) ;D

:-bd ;D
The Austrian Corps is interesting as the infantry regiments present only field 2 battalions each.
There's also an interesting 'what if' option involving the Saxon and Hanoverians who were supposed to 'liberate' Schleswig-Holstein, but who were sort of (willingly?) 'brushed aside' by the 'big boys' so that Austria and Prussia could get 'all the glory'!
Bismark's first War has superb accounts of the actions. But Weigle's 1859/1864 has the better maps. Neil Thomas has 2 scenarios for the war in his 19th Century Wargaming book. There are only a couple of field actions between each 'allied' Corps and the Danes. Decisive battle is the Prussian storming of the Duppel fortress. This to my mind has strong affinities with Vauban era sieges!
I am however struggling to get a 'good fit' for rules and battle size as I'm concentrating on the rather small Sankelmark battle for now. :(
Photos of first test pieces done...
Thanks chaps.
Anyone got a good pictorial reference for the Danes?

So, did you get Danish opposition as well.
In reply to julesav's comment of 5 years ago about rules etc: I am rather proud of my scenario combining the battles of Dueppel / Dybbol and Als, published in the 'Bloody Big European Battles!' scenario book for the BBB rules. It covers actions between February and June 1864. The Prussians are under time pressure to take objectives before some European great power gets fed up and tells Bismarck to stop being a bully. It's a fun scenario and turns a dour siege and storm into an entertaining game.

Yes, just got to be brave and commit to them...
Damn it, assembled dragoons instead of hussars, poot!
Anyone got an Orbat for the Daned?
Think Bruce has a Danish orbat in 1866 ... I think. Just back from Bohemia so I'll need a day or so to shake out, give me a shout end of week if you havent heard.
Thank you sir.
Was it a good trip?
Any good photos?
Jealous as ever! :)
Pretty sure the 2nd SHW is covered in Bruce's book, but will check tonight if I remember...
It is in the 1859 book. Front half is FAW, second half is 2nd Schleswig War.

Yes thanks, very tiring, long days and very hot. I walked Jicin in the same temperature as the day of the battle, 35degs, killing. I can't post photos here as for some bloody reason the file is always too big.
Try here, just a few though.

Cheers Flickr - having to arse around changing email addresses etc. The ever changing nature of IT just makes me so fed up.
You're not the only one, Andy. X_X
That's why I'll never DO Faceache...Twitter....Instagram...Or whatever the latest fad is.
They can all 'go away'. ;)
