Title: Google Blogger 'Ads'
Post by: Steve J on 25 July 2014, 08:32:16 AM
When I checked my 'reading list' on my Google Blogger account this morning, it was suddenly full of 'posts' from a Ling Huao and his 'Online Movie Streaming thingy'. Very annoying to say the least. I've reported it to Google but wondered if anyone else has had this problem?

After a long break, I'm suddenly again getting swarms of emails from desperate widows wanting to move their funds out of Nigeria/Burkina Faso/Zimbabwe/Wales and such places.

A bit more checking and this chap has taken over a 'redundant Blog' that I used to follow. No idea how to 'unfollow' which is a pain >:(.

There's often a time delay due to buffering, even though email is supposed to be instant.

The alternative - NSA and GCHQ are after you....

P.S. - how did that sheep get in here ?

Email is most definitely not supposed to be instant. The RFCs are quite clear on that point. If you want instant communication, use an instant messaging service.

Sorry, but I've had to deal with too many complaints about email taking too long (usually defined as "more than 30 seconds").

More than 30 seconds !?.....HAH !!!

It took me an hour an a half.....and six blanking attempts to send Leon a few photos of wee men last night....."Your email was not sent because of an interruption to your server....Please try re-sending"....blah, blah, blah....I was very grumpy by the time it actually DID go.

Something around 30 seconds would be stunningly good, as far as I'm concerned. ;D ;D ;D

Cheers - Phil

Isn't our fax machine a pair of tins with a piece of string between them Phil ?

No, Ian....That's the intercom. ;)
Pretty hopeless when the string gets soggy, though.

The fax machine is a pad of paper, a pen and a bow and arrow. Not much good beyond a hundred yards, however.
