We get so used to the idiom that makes up the tongue we speak that it's a shock to be reminded how silly it can sound. I had to inform the wife the other day that to "charge home" did not mean a rapid retreat was required. ;D
It's usually what my kids do in a telephone box.
You still have telephone boxes? Haven't they all got mobiles that cost you a months wages in texts and calls over and above the contract?
My kids were kids before mobiles.
I am lucky that mine were too. Now they buy their own credit.
Maledetti hijackers.
Just been to Italy. It was very nice.
Glad to know. On our way in December. First time my wife's gone there.
If you come near Rome, I'll be glad to give you a roof, a bed and two dishes of pasta.
Thank you - may actually take you up on that. We may, however, be travelling with a special friend; is there room for three at need? We have no trouble sharing accommodation.
Let's continue this with e-mail. ;)
OK, waiting to hear from you.
