Title: colonial rules
Post by: Rusty72 on 07 June 2014, 08:30:08 PM
Hi all. Looking to get my 1st 10mm forces, looking to start with the Sudan. I have black powder and battles for empire. I have not played battle for empire. Can anybody recommend good quick play period rules? Has anybody played peter pigs patrol in the sudan?

Many thanks

PitS is good but might not be to everyone's cup of tea - it's not really a 'pitched battle' rules set but is really good for giving two very different forces a very balanced game that either can win!

Would Chris Peers "Death in the Dark Continent" appeal as well?

Try this - 2 -3 hours per game - covers early and late Soudan - specifically for 10mm.

Played Patrols in the Sudan once. It didn't grip me.

Many thanks chaps. I have just found a copy of Darkest Africa in the loft. Will check out the 2hour wargames.

Just checked the realtime wargames look interesting, will pick up a set. Only problem is that all the periods look good ;)

Battles for Empire gets my vote - dead simple and loads of fun

You can have a copy of my home-grown "scramble for Africa" rules if you like. Just drop me your email and I'll send 'em when I get back from 'Nam.
