How comes it takes 2 hours to paint the saddle cloths on 12 camels and paint half a dozen camels a different colour.... Wierd I call it wierd. Bang goes my 5th Jan deadline to finish the brits :(

I wouldn't worry too much about arbitrary deadlines Maenoferren  ;)

They look good Maenoferren. Enjoy the finished product and don't sweat over deadlines, unless, of course, you've promised them for a show.

If I lowered my standards much more they will be left in their base colours  ;D

Self defined deadline to ensure I get it finished. I got new stuff for Christmas so want to get it started after I finish the Sudan.

Those all look excellent! Particularly like the heavy cavalry.

What an un-natural wargamer you are, Maeno. You'll never build up a proper lead mountain that way.  ;)

I am trying to be like that Abby Normal bloke and get a whole project finished before stating on the next.  :D

The camel corps are on their way.... after slapping the paint on the rest in some haphazard way I have gone overboard on accuracy (well for me anyway) on these chaps..... Hope they wont stand out too much :)

You'll have difficulty hiding the camel-corps, methinks.  :D

Well based on the Dark red saddle blanket they stick out quite a bit anyway, never mind being on camels :)
Did some more on them last night... this is taking forever  :'(

What colours are you using for the camels themselves :-\

My next batch, after the Ottoman Arab infantry regiment, will include a battalion from the Imperial Camel Corps Brigade  ;)

Here is a work in progress picture of the Camel Corps.
Basically the camels are ranging from light sand to dark gray (Iraqui sand to uniform gray with a bit of black in) Various shades of brown etc.
I hope this helps

Cheers Guys

The Mahdist camels were the same. the camels in the foreground haven't had their change of colour yet as I totally forgot before painting the dark red saddle cloth.

After watching the 1939 version of the Four feathers again.... the one thing I noticed was that all of the camels are the same colour... basically very pale sand colour. I think they must have done it for the film as camels range from light to almost black.

All the camels I've seen in Dubai over the last ten years or so have been a light beige colour - the racing camels certainly are. They can have whitish legs and sometimes have tufts of black hair on their humps and the backs of their necks.
