Dang, didn't even think about that! I guess they could... I've some Tufecki muskets to do to back up the Janissaries though so they might be a bit redundant. Especially as I don't think Fire & Fury bases are very compatible with my Pike & Shotte unit bases :)

Just had a look and they are very nice. Nice basing mix of materials and colours on the Ottomans (Ottomens?).
Particularly versatile are the WWII 6mm on a Martian coloured playing surface. :)
All good stuff and nice looking chaps to boot.

Missed that on the way past! Is that the Chasseurs d'Afrique? I was actually rather proud of them there bases! There's tufts of sere static grass, a mix of coarse Lidl modelling paste & micro cork rocks and my usual sand. Nothing out of this world :P Although as with all the French early war tanks there's something a bit steam-punk/Jules Verne about them...

I wanted to break up the basing on the Ottomans a little, hence the tiny stones - railway ballast. Gives a nice break from sand-grass-sand :)

Ta!

You should be proud of that basing, definitely looks the part

I think Subedai missed a couple of vital clues in the comments on those 6mm images, 1er Regiment Chasseurs d'Afrique
Technically a cavalry formation they were stationed in the Casablanca ...fought their way across North Africa to Tunis

So they are actually based for Tatoonie in a Galaxy far far away or more likely Tataouine in Tunisia, that the planet was named after  ;)

It's surprising how much alien planets look like of bits of earth :D

Anyway, especially for FierceKitty and his desire for Ottomans, a couple of WIPS of the arty I'm working on.

Bad me, double posting! Anyway, some more WIPs for the Ottomans are up on Facebook. Sipaphi's, command bases, remaining Janissaries. I must confess I've nabbed the flag design form the Tufekci command stand from BucketKnights 2011 painting comp entry - the black & red anarcho-communist design spoke to me :D

More piccies on Face ache in link, as well as some non-Pendraken stuff! I intended a full set of photos from bade coat to finished article but got carried away being productive!

And essential if you want a Mehter to go with them!

Water is indeed the essential ingredient of life, because without water you can't make coffee!

I use them for part of my camp. One thing DBR actually did get right was making it important to defend your baggage.

Yeah, they're really nice looking figures - the kettle is really nicely done, esp.! The pack is five foot command groups of fat pasha, drummer, trumpeter, standard bearer, & then the kettle plus bearers. I've gone with a group for each of the four bases of janissaries I have then split the fat pasha out with the kettle for a Battalia command group, and the other three have a "paint conversion" in red for the upcoming Tufekci Battalia.

Cracking on with these is really being helped by posting to the forum - it's encouraging me greatly in getting stuff done! Base these, then there's four eight man Tufikci, three more Sipaphi, two more guns & the cavalry & overall commanders and I'm done. Oh, and some rabble :D
