Mojo slowly returning....

My wargaming mojo is slowly returning....

Haven't painted anything since October 2013, haven't bought much or made much progress on my lead pile, haven't even considered any new periods/genres....

However, in the past couple of weeks I have managed to get some solo gaming in and found that going back to basics was the key

Two games of Warmaster and two of Bolt Action and all of a sudden I'm hungry for a bit more :)

I think I have spent a bit too much time in the past couple of years with over complicated rules sets and have probably diluted my key favourite areas by trying too many new priods and genre's rather than sticking with my 'bankers'

Long may the rennaissance continue!
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Sounds good to me!

My own painting has slowed to glacial speeds, not due to any lack of enthusiasm but down to the fact that I seem to have joined the ranks of those annoying retirees who can't imagine how they ever had time for a job with all of the socialising that's going on. Long may it continue.

Warmaster and Bolt Action - can't fault your choices! Have fun.

Good to see it returning Nosher :). I agree that sticking with periods and rulesets that you enjoy is the key. That's what I've done over the past few years and feel much better for it.

My mojo has three levels; dead stop where nothing gets done, ram speed where a lot gets done in a short space of time and then trickle speed where some things get done but ever so slowly. Over the years it has fluctuated between the three but I have noticed that going from dead stop to ram speed only takes an inspirational idea and it's off, whereas I can run at trickle for a long time. Being mostly just a painter at the moment doesn't help which means the only deadlines I set are my own and are infrequently met. But the beauty is that IT DOES COME BACK, usually with a vengeance.

By some bizarre coincidence I came to the same conculsion last night. Through a combination of my and my opponents real lives both my painting and gaming has stalled. This morning I started to set up a table for a solo game to christen my AWI. Reading the forum over breakfast I discover I am not the only one aflicted with this malaise.

After a hasty breakfast His Majesty's 23nd and 33rd Regiments of Foot will do battle with the disloyal Whigs of the Carolinas.

New baby in the house has killed my usual ability to do, well, anything let alone play games... Looking forward to weekend after next where I might actually get some Spearhead in. Op Torch goodness, and I get to be Captain Renault which is good :D

Paintings ok as I can slip a little in around the day job. Good job as I've a bunch of commision work :D

Did manage to play WW2 naval at WMMMS though - got a lot of enquiries about the boats (from H&R), which was good. Sorry no 10mm French-Indochina like last time though Leon!

Well that feels much better  ;)

Had a VERY enjoyable solo game of AWI. Now to post process the photos and put together a batle report. Then back to painting the Guards this evening  :) :D

Well two out of three ain't bad. Photos took longer than planned due to file compatibility issues with my wife's new camera. Will have to continue painting the Guard tonight, enthusiasm definitely renewed    :D

Don't the Guard object, or are they ordered to remain still whilst under such provocation :D

"They're painting guard at Buckingham Palace..... " doesn't quite have the same ring, does it?  ;)
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Maybe it's the Guard that are *doing* the painting? Afterall, we haven't invaded anywhere in a couple of years, so they must be bored!

Haven't had a game in about 14 months, too much real life and death getting in the way!! Painting? no trouble with that, just too many projects on the go at the same time and still looking at new ones!!!
