Thank you for your answer.

How big is the optical difference between the dark and the high elves? Is it possible to mix the miniatures and still get and uniformed looking army?

They are both similar height and style, and were done by the same sculptor.

So I decided for the High elves and also placed an order. By now I only wait for a friend of mine and his decision for a warmaster army. Thanks everybody for the help.

To the warmaster gamers: are there any tactical guides for the high elves or any active warmaster communities?

Thanks a lot. We will definitley go with 40*20mm. I thought about one line of foot with 4 miniatures. Could anybody probably help me out with a photo of line of miniatures and a measurement next to? I am not sure about this idea and do want to buy enough miniatures. ;)

Greetings from a German living in Edinburgh. You will definitely love this company, postage is no problem but allow some time for delivery.
May I suggest a slightly larger base? 80*40 and use a diceframe (minibits.net) as casualty marker?

Tyzor

Greetings back to Edinburgh.

My Warmaster Ancient Carthaginians are based on 20*40mm bases and it has proved, that for the tables and terrain in our club it is really the right size. ;-)

I have no photos but you can easily get 8 miniatures on a 40x20 base

This is not necessarily true with the Dark Elves - especially the spearmen. They are amongst the largest figures in the Pendraken catalogue and have quite a wide stance.  I'll try and get a photo, but you'd struggle to get more than two ranks of three on a 40x20 base.

Cheers!

Standardised bases are more important in Warmaster than the number of figures.

40 x 20mm is the recommended size so if you are likely to play other people I'd stick with that.

Half a dozen figures per stand would be OK I'd have thought, if that's all that fits.

I must totally agree with your opinion. The stands must look good. If the unit looks good with only one model per base it is okay, if you like it with 8 models per stand, then go for it. By know I will test it with 4 models per stand in one row and if I do not like it, I will put another order and bring more models to one stand.

I have two additional questions:

1. I have used google for this one and did not find anything that fits my wishes: Is there a blog or stuff, where you can find tutorials for nice looking 10mm terrain? Especially ideas for the fantasy setting. In our club we have many terrain for 40k and stuff and for 15mm FOW, but FOW does not fit for fantasy. ;-)

2. Which scale should ships for warmaster be? I think it must be 1:150 if you use 10mm, but then a ship is like one metre long. I found an old forgeworld ship for warmaster, but I did not found anything about the scale. If somebody could help me out with this?

fred.

I quite happily got 8 of the high elf spears on a 40x20 base - the cast on bases of the figures are a bit wide, but can be trimmed a little to help the fit.

But some of the Pendraken fantasy are quite chunky, so you may only get 6 on a base, Lizardmen, Gnomes and Orcs come to mind.

One thing to be aware of is that the Pendraken fantasy range is quite big (more 12mm than 10mm) unlike their historicals, and if you are planning on using PD figures alongside GW Warmaster ones the PD ones will look quite big.

As to ships - use 1:150 is about the right scale for 10mm. I have a Heller plastic viking long boat kit, its probably about 15cm long. I suppose it depends what size of boat you want, and what you want it do in the game. I think most medieval boats were fairly small.

Tyzor, for inspiration you might like to look at the 2md Warmaster picture archive, if you haven't already found it it's at

http://www.2md.dk/gw-warmaster/images/

There's a section on terrain as well as lots of pictures of units, though most of the figures are Games Workshop rather than Pendraken.

It's a good place to look if wondering about colour schemes. for example.

There are even some pics uploaded by me!

Bit late now then, but here are the dark elf spearmen for anyone else interested:

I've only got two of the unhelmeted variety, hence the mixed second base.  I've also no idea which figure is which code becasue they came as part of the army pack.

Cheers,

Today (my girlfriends birthday!) the postmen knocked at our door: "Sorry this is too big for your postbox!". I was like "yeah my miniatures" and then like "birthdayparty"  :'( :'( :'(  ;D ;D. So my package has arrived everything was in it and the miniatures look really good. Can not wait to start painting, but must wait.  ;)
