I'm doing EIR vs Ancient Britons in 10mm. Just wondered if all my warbands should be normal or green/romanised or if I could feasably field any armoured warband. I'm using Legion & Empire rules where this makes a difference to movement & combat.

I am not familiar with Legion & Empire so I'm not sure of the classifications

At an individual level some Britons would be armoured but I don't think an armoured unit would take the field

Read a trial set of Legion and Empire a while ago so I'm also pretty vague on what these categories represent.

Most British warbands would be farmers and craftsmen armed with light spears/ javelins and a sword or dagger. Almost all would have a shield, some would have helmets, a handful of well-to-do warriors might have a mail shirt as well. The guys in mail shirts would be few and far between and most would be cavalry or charioteers.

For a major effort (Boudicca's revolt, for example) you might get men involved who would nornmally stay clear of the fighting so Green warband is not unreasonable in some circumstances.

None would have been trained by the Romans (unlike Ariminius' Batavians, as an example) nor would they have the opportunity to acquire Roman equipment in any quantity. An exception might be those involved in Boudicca's crushing of the force under Petillius Cerialis or the sacking of Colchester, though there's no indication of any major use of Roman armour or weapons by Boudicca's force.

So I'd agree with Shedman, no armoured warband and I'd add no Romanised one either.
There are 100 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data

Is there a review of Legion & Empire anywhere on t'interweb?

I'd lost my original search info but have done another trawl & found a group which supports Legion & Empire rules as well as having them free on file along with army lists & an amazing campaign idea which was what attracted me to them in the first place.
