If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

For my money, Britain in WWII is the place to go for gun totty.

Webley 0.38" revolver:

Sten Mark 2. Ugly as sin, but all the lovelier for it:

Lee-Enfield No.4 Mark 1 rifle:

WWII Brit weapons wouldn't be complete without the Vickers:-

Blakes' 7 Liberator gun

Used to use curling-hair-thingy as a good proxy.

James Bond's Walther PPK

I'm not sold on the Vickers, I'm afraid. I think the MG42 is a much better looking bit of kit.

Best thing I ever fired was the US M-14... such power and such a smooth operating system.
Absolutely No. 1 for me.  :D

I remember being in Australia at a Fencing training camp, we were sharing our floor of the accomodation block with a Chinese team. One evening we were all watching a period Australian drama, very Ned Kelly. The Chinese enjoyed it despite not speaking English. When that finished they managed to asked what was on next through a combination of mime and Fencing French.

Unfortunately the answer was .... Blakes 7 ... how do you explain that with only Fencing French and mime....   ;D

How about:

"C'est un documentaire sur la vie dans l'Ouest. Vous n'avez aucune idée de ce que votre gouvernement vous cache"*

That should cause some consternation :)

*It's a documentary about life in the West. You have no idea what your government is hiding from you

Unfortnately the Fencing French vocabularly is somewhat more limited:

Allé, halt,Touche à droit ....

Consternation, given how nervous they were and how they blanked us when anyone from the Embassy was around that could probably have got someone shot  :o
