Nice to see I'm not the only one who feels that way about weekend TV.

Recorded it and will probably watch it tonight.
We had a fun Musketeers game at the club some time back. Not in 10mm though I'm afraid.

Sadly no longer with us - RIP (2018)

There used to be a great game called 'Breakfast at the Bastion' which did the rounds at the shows in the late 90's.  You had cue cards which described the process of firing a musket, which had to be put in order and thrown on the table as you shouted 'Bang!'  Only trouble was the 3 referees barking orders at you, and the crackers you had to stuff into your gob constantly!

I remember that! Played with a bunch of sealed Knot guys, who knew how to load a musket, and I ate the crackers!

Liked it except for the leather. The sets seemed grittier than in the Lester films. Constance looks a bit old for D'Artagnan. Presumably Dr.Who is screwing with French history before moving on to mess with the Daleks again.

I think Pete at Baccus has still got it in storage somewhere, they had to take it off the circuit when the Health & Safety brigade complained about the crackers I think...   =)

Yes, it's a good loooong holiday read, I think it's because like Dickens many of Dumas's works came out as serials, so he wanted to string the story out for as long as possible.   The Count of Monte Cristo is the same, what we see in films and on the Telly is just the core story with a nice ending, the actual book is about three times as long and the ending is not what you'd expect.

Incidentally have you read 'The Black Count' by Tom Reiss?  It's the story of Dumas's father who was half afro-carribean (to be PC) and rose from Wests Indian slave to general in the revoluionary army :o but fell fould of a certain N. Bonaparte.

Most of the time I'm watching shows on "catch-up" anyway.

Also, anyoone else find themselves thinking "My name is Inigo Montaya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!" when D'Artagnan was fighting his father's killer?

Just me then? Ho-hum :)

A film with Inigo Montoya AND Dread Pirate Roberts as characters and Columbo as narrator ... what's not to like!
