I did manage to get some painting done over the weekend and Phil will be pleased to hear that I have now finished the painting on this batch

Started organising the next batch, 3 battalions of "British".

My original plan was for these to be the 63^rd, 64^th, and Royal North Carolina Regiments. The last is a loyalist unit required for Guilford Courthouse, the other two regular battalions are extras that fought in various smaller actions.

I am now seriously considering painting these up as 63^rd, Royal North Carolina Regiment and the South Carolina Royalists (Provincial Regiment)

The figures I have left are AWB1, AWB2, AWB3. This gives me two 'passive' poses, march attack and standing, both with packs and an 'active' pose, firing line. Most of the other British units are 'active' poses and none have packs so it will be a visual differentiator. It will also be useful to have a couple of loyalist units, although the British units can stand in with a temporary label,

I've been doing a bit of research on the South Carolina Royalists and have found three more good reasons to do them:
1. They were noted as having a number of negro soldiers that served for the duration of the war (read black/ African American if you prefer)
2. They have yellow facings, these will add another splash of colour
3. The late Greg Novack had a unit of them so they will serve as an appropriate reminder of him and his contribution to the rules I use

Current batch washed last night
Final dry brush and figure bases done today  

Realised last night that I hadn't started on the bases for the current batch
Cut out enough for the current and the next batch last night, sanded and washed this morning
First side painted this morning & just painted second side  

Decided I will go with South Carolina Royalists rather than 64^th Foot
Updated army list and labels
Noticed an error on one of the labels for the North Carolina Volunteers, from the current batch
Fixed, will print it out ready for labelling over the weekend

I finished painting the bases last night and even managed to get the magnetic viny glued on. So they should be ready for labeling tonight, if I can stay awake.
I got up at 2am to take my wife to the airport, only to find on arrival that her flight had been canceled  Second attempt this afternoon and she will have to overnight in Sydney before getting her flight to Manila 24 hours later than planned

I should get the figures based tomorrow 

But I'm off to Christchurch on Sunday to visit my son and sit in 6 aircraft cockpits including a Spitfire, Dakota, Huey and Skyhawk

The forecast for Tuesday is fine so I might get some varnishing done if the wind isn't too strong

Oh and some photography

BTW: Did I say I was recently on holiday in the USA (sorry, getting boring now). Anyhoo, believe it or not, there is a River Ni in Virginia! True.

Flocking touched up last night

A couple of minor moulding issues on officer's horses for the new batch dealt to with putty
Fixes turned out ok

Shrubbery and flags added early this morning

Varnished three sides of the bases then ran out of spray varnish

Phone call to check "Not Just Toys" have some in stock, followed by a 20 minute drive and I have two new cans
