Madingley American Cemetery is set to close due to lack of funding :o

I thought it was only in the UK that something like this could happen, but sadly our colonial cousins would appear to have lost the plot too :(

Does anyone know how to lobby against such bollocks?

Maybe our threatened heritage sites should take a similar stand... :-\
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

It's as a result of the stand off between Congress and the House of Representatives. Once they've agreed a budget it will open again. Sad though as it is a moving site as you drive through Madingley and get a view of the crosses on the hill.

The same thing happened to the American Cemetery at Margraten in the Netherlands from day one of the shutdown. Unbelievable how childish people (sorry; politicians...) can be.

We've got a friend who's on holiday in the US at the moment visiting the ACW battlefields, which are all closed due to the shutdown as well.

I posted the following on his Facebook wall:

New York, New York
it's a hell of a town
The Bronx is up
but public service shut down!

All locked into one room, every hour ONE person is allowed a 5 min toilet break, no food, no water. Bet the problem is solved in no time.

Seriously if we commoners would solve our issues like this the whole economy would come to a standstill.
