Funny.

-" oh my god! our former enemies left a bunch of tanks behind! Shall we patch them up and use them in case they come back?"

-"Nah, too much work,  just leave them"

At least the germans knew what to do with captured and abandoned equipment, give it a long name, strip it of its turret and turn it into an SPG  :D

Wow, that last one has quite a few!  I've been trying to see if that German one is visible on Google Earth, but can't seem to find it.  You'd think 14,000 tanks would stand out slightly...

I had problems with that too, until I twigged it might be Rockensußra . When you find it it doesn't look that impressive, going back to re-read the article it says " 14,200 tanks and armored personnel carriers have been dismantled over the past 20 years or so", but at any one time there seems to be only a few dozen  :(

Edit; Actually I take that back. Image search "Rockensußra" and you'll see lots of tanks. Not 14,200, but still lots.

Go up and left of the village to the industrial area. There are over hundred parked up hulks, many without turrets.
But if you look at the grass above the guard standing there is evidence of long term parking of about a hundred more.

Bingo!  I didn't get in close enough to see the hulls, I think I was searching for this sea of armour...!   :D

I wonder if they'd let you go look at them if you turned up randomly...  :-\
