Does anyone know the name of the resin that's used to make buildings ?

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

Some use Fastcast, that is really fast as its names infers. It does attack the surface of the mould so not quite sure how many shots you get out before you need a new mould.

Timecast appear to have moved over to Jesmonite, a water based resin that is very durable and tough. The turn around time is longer than Fastcast but it does not attack the surface of the mould, so potentially you have a limitless life for said mould.

Which ever you use, you do need to ensure you get rid of any air bubbles by using either a vacuum chamber, pressure chamber or vibration table. The buildings I got from Timecast although nice, were blighted by lots of bubbles on chimneys, ridges etc.

Hope this helps?

Thanks Steve , I was debating weather to use resin or plater, like herculite but was worried about the strength and detail with herculite. What do you think ?

Herculite is strong and cheap, and can hold a fair amount of detail, if you need loads of buildings making on the cheap, stone plaster is the way to go.
