Napoleonic ranges

Before starting new range, wouldn't it be better to complete what has already been done? Pendraken has a nice 1812 range but a lot of items are missing: you have Polish infantry but no artillery and no cavalry, so it's impossible to do Poniatowski fifth corps at Borodino. You have wurtembergers but no light infantry, no cavalry and no artillery. For the Russians, no hussars, no uhlans, no cossacks, no generals, (almost) no artillery, no opolchenie, so again impossible to start a Russian army with Pendraken only. A few key items could make a big difference.

The 1812 ranges were done about 10 years ago now, so we'll be resculpting them completely as we progress with the Napoleonic expansion.

So good news and bad news.

1812 to be resculpted - good.

But should I continue expanding my Russian forces with what's currently available? - tricky ;)

We won't be hitting the new Russians for some time yet, the sculptor needs to do the Brits and Prussians and other Wagram bits first, and then we'll either go down to the Spanish and Portuguese, or up to the Russians instead.  Not sure at this point, but you're looking at 2015 at the earliest, we'd want to make sure we have everything in place for Waterloo at that point as well.

Hmm, now what to do?  :-\

I paint 6mm Naps for cash but want to build my own armies now. I cant' decide whether to stay with 6mm or start with 10mm Pendraken. I intend to do all campaigns from 1809 expect Peninsula as for some reason it doesn't get me going..  :)

The thing holding me back is the ranges need to be full. What I mean is the main items not the niche ones that few will really need such as engineers. The 1809 range is very nice by the way and I'm really tempted.  :D The austrians can be basically used from 1809 till the end of the wars so thats good. I may just start with those afterall.

So I appreciate you have loads in the pipeline but can you be specific on your Napoleonic plans so I can make a decison finally  ;D

Nothing more to be said.

Cudders,

The 1809 Austrians are already as good as done. You can find the original list of planned releases here:

http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4400.0.html

All that hasn't been released yet are Vienna Volunteers and Insurrection Hussars which shouldn't put you off buying into the range. If you plan to game the later period, you might want to make a request for German infantry with shakos.

Cheers, Michael

Hi Micheal, yes the later German infantry in shako are a must and finish the range off nicely..

Not really unfortunately!  It's a case of 'When the designer has finished on x, then he can start on y...'  He's currently doing the WW1 extension, so once he gets finished with those, he'll be off onto the Napoleonic Brits and Prussians.

Would it be possible to finish the Austrians with Vienna Volunteers and Insurrection Hussars before starting a new Napoleonic range?  :D

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as folk don't complain at the extra month delay to the Brits!

GordonY

I'd complain, I've been waiting long enough for at least some Brits, Austrians are all very well, but we really do need to get the Sawff Essecks on the go.

Zippee

I'd complain if I had to wait for Confederation allies, Russians, Poles and proper French legere  - finish the central theatre before sideshow theatres please.

Agree with Ian's question mark. Prussians did nothing between 1806-7 until 1813. Do not think they fought in 1812 although part of the Grande Army that invaded Russia.
