The piccy I was working from doesn't give any  3D perception....In fact it looks like a long haired 'broom head' cross piece.....Not a round 'dustbin lid' with the hair dangling in a circle.
That's saved some time (and swearing).....Many thanks !

Works for me but it will need to be straight up rather than slanted like a lance: can you cast this?

It'll be straight up, as near as poss G.
In the pose I'm doing the wee chap, it would suit that for casting purposes anyway.
