Hi All

I don't usually have access to Wargames Illustrated but I saw that the latest issue had an article about Khalkin Gol (Battle between Russia and Japan 1939) and I was wondering if anybody had seen it and could give a quick summary.

Cheers

There's no actual Khalkin Gol battle featured in this issue, Grumps. They do re-fight the Nomonhan Incident on P48 as part of their publicity push for their new Japanese and early Soviet ranges, but most of the relevant content in the issue focuses on the Japanese. For the record, the Japanese won.

Hi Hertsblue

Thanks for the reply. I feared it was a bit of ad blather rather than a good article  :(. I realise It's a house mag but it's hard to get involved sometimes for the fringe dwellers/unconverted.

Now I just have to work out what to use for Mongolian cavalry  :D Maybe WW1 British cavalry in caps minus their lances.

Wouldn't the WW1 Cossacks fit the bill? I haven't seen the figures, admittedly, but they wore that same kind of plain uniform with peaked caps. Mind you, they'd have lances too.

Hi Hertsblue

I had another look around and probably the WW1 Russian cavalry would be closest:-
