although with dodging snake and scorpions, lizards and such like...I can see more smooth transition
is required....now where are my tottering heels....

That's too hot......Even for me !.....Mind you, it wouldn't take long to dry the ground out.....It'd be steaming  ;D ;D ;D ;D

How would that affect drying times? Would it delay anything vital?  :-SS

I've got to watch the forecast now to make sure we're not in for a hot spell.

Techno...its true it does steam (ground) after the rain...
the rocks and stones give off this vapour (odourless to humans)
However my staffy starts going round after rain, just licking stones, like he is on some sort of high..
I think the iron mineral reacts with rain....Its quite fascinating to watch as he drags big stone and rubs them on his body... :)

Techno

People always tell me that it's a lovely 'fresh' smell when rain falls on hot ground....
Personally I don't like the 'niff' at all.  ;D ;D ;D
Cheers - Phil.

Surprised you can smell anything anyway.  Smell is made of tiny particles of the thing you're smelling; by that rationale, I reckon you must have inhaled AT LEAST 30 kilos of green stuff by now; your conk would probably survive a nuclear strike! :)

Techno

What I find 'strange' about the sense of smell, is how different 'pongs' appear to affect different folk.
Mrs T can smell certain things.....That I barely notice.....Like someone having a bonfire MILES away.
Then there are the complete opposites.....
30 kilo's of green stuff ?.....Nah.....Not through my nasal passages....Probably through the skin on my fingers though !! ;D ;D

I lost my sense of smell thirty years ago working in a printing ink factory in New Zealand. Some of the solvents we used were pretty fierce. Now, guess who gets sent out to clean up the cat mess in the garden?  :'( :'( :'(
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

I had a stress related olfactory problem about 5 years ago: all I could smell was cigarette smoke.  It then changed to aftershave :o

This is more common than people realise; very weird though :-\

yh, my son had a problem when he was twelve he kept smelling what he described as Hamster poop....ha,ha...but seriously it lasted 6 months...
I shot the hamster....lol...no I`m joking we only had a cat at the time....
