No real harm done....But they've done it again.

In the 'What are you reading' thread recently, I asked my esteemed colleagues on the forum to recommend some reading material so that I could AT LAST start giving myself an overview about some of the periods we deal with here.

Having had a recommendation from Steve J about Decisive Battles of the Western World.....I tracked down, and ordered a couple of that particular series....
Good show !!...
Notified they'd been dispatched.....Sat and waited....and waited....and waited....Contacted seller...He'd look into it, but they definitely HAD been sent.

Phone call this morning from a neighbour 600 yards up the road....Phil, there's a parcel for you that's been left in the shed we don't look in very often nowadays....No idea how long its been there.....(Probably only a few days)

I'm sure I've moaned on the forum about exactly the same thing happening previously.
What is wrong with these guys ?
Admittedly..The neighbour has almost the same name as yours truly...But sheesh...The addresses are completely different.
This is the sort of thing where it's possible for the seller and buyer to both think that the other is trying to rip them off.
I wouldn't mind if it was the only time this has happened....BUT....

Rant over....I'll get back to pushing putty about now....

I have all of my deliveries at work to avoid any issues at all with the post. Too many times at home my wife has had to go to the depot to collect stuff, which is a pain. Anyway, hope you enjoy the books Phil.

Not as bad as Yodel. They delivered a box to me last week, put a card in my letter box to say it had been left at the back door. OUTSIDE the unlocked back door, on the steps, directly under the notice stuck to the door saying "Please leave all deviveries inside porch"...

That could be due to insurance Wulf, when I worked for a Supermarket delivery firm we could only ever enter the house by verbal consent, maybe the same with couriers as well

It's not just Parcel Farce, Fedex are at it as well at the moment.  We sent a trade order over to the States last week, and it's been dumped outside the guy's front door, package torn to shreds and figures all over the floor.  He was only sat in his front room, and they didn't bother knocking either.

Despite the box being marked "leave inside back porch if no-one home", as I always request on deliveries (Pendraken included)? No, if Yodel actually carried out any part of their operation with anything like competence I might believe that, but not in their case. This is, in fact, the first time they've left me a card accurately describing the location of a package. Previously they've entirely failed to leave any sign of a failed delivery (the item in question was returned to the sender in the States!), or left a card with nothing written on it at all!

It's only thanks to there being no rain that the box, and boardgame it contained, got to me in anything like decent condition.

Pickfords did it to a friends figure cases, 12,000 28mm figures collected over 30 years stored upside down and heavy furniture put on top, the figures were stored in hard plastic see through tubs , he reckons it was done deliberately, his wives porcelain collection stored and marked  as fragile had a tv dumped on top of it , smashed them all

I think the problem is that delivery drivers these days have such tight schedules and have to make so many "drops" in a day that they have no time to spare to even read labels. I did investigate one of the bigger outfits some years ago when I was desperate for money and found that, although the pay was generous, the hours a driver was expected to put in were horrendous. The clincher was the remark that "if you skip lunch you can get it done by 9.00pm". I decided I'd rather juggle chainsaws....

The main Parcel farce depot near me is Swansea which is approximately 70 miles as the crow flies so when they dropped a card through my door there was no way on earth i was driving that far so phoned and requested a redelivery for the following day so wait in all day no parcel farce phoned again oh !! it will be on the next truck tomorrow again waited in no parcel !! 4 days later they left it my shed which was unlocked? as it was on the day they first tried!!
