You have a sure hand with the hat lace.  I always have to pay a second visit with the black.

Right - whilst enjoying the All Whites holding Italy to a 1-1 draw, I finished this lot: details, hair etc & bunged flags on - about an hour - so

Total elapsed time 8 hrs 20 mins

I've decided that these will get a wash - will do later tonight. I'll finish bases once the whole army's done  8)

I'm amazed how quick you can work through them.  I might actually try my hand at some painting at some point.

Total elapsed time: 9 hrs

Missed this one earlier...have you tried 'edging'? Rather than try to paint the lace on with the tip of the brush, use the side of the brush, at an angle to the hat brim & run it along...much better control - and way easier!  8)

Ah, so it has a name  ;D - I'll try some variations of the angle.

nikharwood

Well, it's the name I use  ;)

Right - last night's product of an hour watching some glorious football is the Grenadiers: total elapsed time = 10 hrs:

Another merry 40 minutes: artillery done: total elapsed time = 10 hrs 40 mins:

Blimey - a gap of over a week...that's not good  :(

Not much to look at - but have done all the base colours of all the horses for both Austrian (rear) & Prussian (front) cavalry and commanders - essentially using a 4-colour variation: Bestial Brown (ie leave as they are from the prepped stage); Dark Fleshtone; Leather Brown; Cold Grey - about 30 mins:

Total elapsed time = 11 hrs 10 mins:

nikharwood

Fast 30 mins worth of detailing gee-gees: manes & tails basecoated & highlighted; stars / blazes painted - for both forces although these quick-pics are just of the Austrians.

Total elapsed time = 11 hrs 40 mins:

nikharwood

Two units of Austrian Cuirassiers done last night: 45mins

Total elapsed time = 12 hrs 25 mins

nikharwood

Rain stopped play (before it started) with my cricket match tonight - so 40 minutes spent doing the Hussars:

Total elapsed time = 13 hrs 05 mins

Anyway, Dragoons & Commanders done today - so Prussians to follow...

These took about 45 mins

Total elapsed time = 13 hrs 50 mins

Hi Nik

Great work on these!

What are you using for the round bases on your generals?

nikharwood

Thanks Sean (I will get to the Prussians soon..!)

The round bases for commands are some of those new-ish "Display" type base that come with 28mm figures - these ones here called "Newstyle"...I only used them because I had a load knocking around  :) http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/MINIAATURES_BASES.html

They work quite well though, because they have an indentation [ie the lip is higher than the middle] - so glue figures in & then fill with Polyfilla to line of base before texturing.

nikharwood

From 24th July - 16th September...outrageous  :o

Anyway, the Prussians are coming: an hour tonight for the Grenadiers:

Total elapsed time = 14 hrs 50 mins

Nosher

Its great to see progress on these Nik - they're coming along nicely ;)
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Thanks nosher - although I did realise that I'd not finished the headgear  :o (red top pom-pom thingy wotsit).

Took me 5 mins to rectify:
