NHS.....

Been having a problem with my left foot for several months, eventually gave in and filled in one of the 'triage' forms that you have to complete before you can get an appointment with the GP around here. Sent it in about 16.35 on Tuesday afternoon (this week); had a phone call from the surgery within ten minutes asking if I could come and see the doc at 10am the next day (yesterday). Saw the doc (on time) who proscribed some gell and said I needed to have an x-ray. Had a phone call from the x-ray department at Frome Community hospital at around 15.00 yesterday asking if I could come in at 09.15 for the x-ray tomorrow (Friday).

Well done NHS. Now going to lie down in a dark room (and rest the foot).

Cheers Paul

Despite the screwing around for the last decade or more, the actual NHS does try to do things right.

My son had a kidney transplant during the pandemic. Despite everything extra the pandemic brought when I was being tested as a donor the appointments were pretty much on time.

(I wasn't suitable - one kidney has two stones, apparently - the maximum is one, and the other was too complicated to remove; though the diagrams show one artery in, on vein out, often this is actually multiples, and I have 3 of one of them - the maximum is 2)
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Widnes, Wigan (a personal down for an ex of mine) - all near Manchester, all bloody weird.

That's the Midlands for you.

(Go on, argue - dare you to...)

As a matter of interest Hussar, what did you decide? Last day of Feb? 1st day of March? I think I'd go last day of Feb.  :-\

Also, I may live in Runcorn, but I'm not from Runcorn. Where I'm from pretty much everyone in the UK is a Southener.

Hmmm. That'll do until 2028 I suppose.

Isn't the administrative mind a wonderful thing?

Well aside from the 30/02, when would you have put.

And FYI it would be the 29th Feb if it really was the 30th. It is actually the 31st of August, but I knew everyone here would get it wrong...  :d

Hmmm.I did notice that it was the 30th but went for "closest to 6 calendar months from the date, without going into the 7th month" rather then "the penultimate date of the month six months from now" which would suggest 27th Feb as a viable suggestion.

Interestingly if you add 6 months to the 30/08/24 in Excel, it gives you 02/03/25.

The Scottish border runs South west to North East. If you use the mid-point as a good average, then the distance from a point equal to north Manchester to the Boarder is almost exactly the same as the Solent to Birmingham.

England is about 510 km North South. Dividing it into 3 equal parts of 170km, the middle runs Leeds to Northampton.

Thus Scousers and Mancs are, like Brummies, from the Midlands.

So Kermit - Yow allll reet?

Mathematically pretty close, culturally you are going to have some stern questions to answer from the President of the Council of the North.

I originate from the east end of London. Traditionally for those of from that part of the capital "the North" is anything north of Watford Gap services on the M1.

Thus anybody who lives north of this point is a "Northerner".Also anyone from south of the Thames is definitely a bit suspect.
