The David Lynch version was badly let down by some truly terrible special effects, trying to cram the whole book into one movie and a couple of really stupid moments - the one where the Emperor & his top generals main the guns stands out as spectacularly bad.

Saw the new one on Amazon Prime - very good I thought. True to the (first half of the) book. Looking forward to the second.

No problem with sound levels. Unlike Tenet - one of the very few movies I have walked out of.

Whilst visually excellent, we just did not feel engaged at all with the story nor was it easy to follow what they were trying to convey. Anyone else feels the same?

No problem with the sound but I agree with you.  I have no idea what it was really about - I haven't read the book which would probably help but I shouldn't have to.  The film was one of those that is instantly forgetable.

Attended Colours wargames show today and it was uncomortably hot on all floors, but especially the top one. Hard to concentrate and had to keep popping outside for a drinks break and some fresh air. 37C in the car when I set off for home !
