Welcome Colonel.

Do as you wish with the lower ranks. Meanwhile, I shall join other senior officers in the club - I believe Francois is the chef tonight.

Congratulations Colonel.

I would like to point out that the tradition of the  Dance of The Flamming ****** was instigated by Fieldmarshal FSN, when he was a mere Major when he managed to project a flame from a lighted fart 3 feet and set the table cloth alight.

This has now become a much loved tradition, with all newly promoted Majors trying to beat the length of flame set by FSN.

Big insect nearly beat him with 2 feet 9.5 inches after a weeks diet of nothing but Brussel Sprouts, Baked beans and eggs

QuoteDon't worry, My Lord. He'll get himself soon enough. Just leave some rope where he can find it.
Surely you refer to Braid, Sir?

I find that current Undress / Walking Out uniform standards are Quite Unacceptable. 'T' shirts and shorts! A Smart Tunic with Braided Frogging and with POLISHED Silver buttons embodying the Regimental 'P' ... together with braided Breeches or Pantaloons, (According to stature), and Tasselled Boots will inspire Esprit de Corps amongst The Elite.
Stable Dress of Pajama pants will be acceptable with Braided Cord.
Mustachios and 'Beards' will be allowed, but a decently short Hair cut will be necessary for the smart Side Cap.

Braid shall be Silver to embody the 'Leaden Spirit' of The Regiment.

I defer to Mess Traditions amongst the Officer Ranks which may continue.. however Disgusting frolicsome they may be.

With respect, fsn, Sir, Francois tends to drool somewhat and 'Do things'. I would recommend Inga who, although a recent recruit, is very hygienic and inventive in the kitchen.

Indeed she is. Quite a good cook too.

Why I LOVE Fresh Snow!
OK... a Hate for many.. but...
Out early on new snowfall. Just Your footprints... and Dog's. Find some Fox / Cat tracks... follow? No... let them explore Their 'new' world.
Home... and view the Trees and bushes as 'Winter Wonderland'... with all the crap buried and hidden.
For a little while, All is New.

In days of yore... might tramp down to village... to drink and smoke before a fire... with other 'explorers'!
Work... well, YOU Had got in... !

Doesn't last. Human traffic beats paths to  slush or treacherous ice. Cars make ruts... I try to crush them before they Freeze Hard... (I'm an idiot!). Dog thinks He's pulling a sled with 4 paw drive... not Me with 2 ! Gutters freeze and melt runs down wall. Yellow snow and Poo. World turns to slushy mess.

But... for a little while... there is Wonder!

No snow here, today ... only dim, rainy, drear... just remembering!

Quote from: Steve J on 24 February 2013, 05:54:35 PMDriving back to Bristol from Norfolk today I was amazed at how many cars had their headlights on in broad daylight, followed by the amount of drivers cutting in just after overtaking you! Why?

Daytime running lights have been compulsory on all new cars in the UK since 2011.

Many cars now have an "Auto lights" function that turns the lights on if the ambient light is deemed to low by the sensor.

Owners of cars that have them tend to leave them in auto mode. that way they come on if its raining or getting dark
