Heresy miniatures have just tweeted that if you send them money, they will send figures.

Which seems an evil thing to post where wargamers might see it.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

I've finished my WWII North West Europe forces ...  again.

Boosted the German artillery with a couple of Hummels and 10.5mm Howitzers, plus a couple of SdKfz250/7(?) for the recce troop.

What next?

Ah!

There's those Raiden hairyplanes.

They're addictive. Got a couple of Ms406 and a pair of H75 to boost the French in 1940 on the painting table at the moment. Spitfires, Hurricanes, Bf109s etc will cover that end of the war off.  Cr42s for the Italians ...

Already got Typhoons ... so 1944 is covered off ...

May need to get a Corsair or two for the US Marines ... which means I'll need to get  ... ooh! that Kawaskai Ki45 looks nice ... (II do have a preference for the Japanese Army as opposed to the Navy) ... so Ki43's are a must ... that means I'll have to get  ... ooh Betty ... bombers ... that means I'll have to get some more US aviation ... to balance things out you understand ...  possibly some Avengers  or ....

Dammit!
Dammit!
Dammit!

How can I have US Forces in Normandy without Thunderbolts?

WWII North West Europe Project re-opened.   :'( :'( :'( :'(

Isn't the SdKfz 250/7 the Mortar carrier, I suspect you mean the SdKfz 250/9 with the 20mm in the same turret as the SdKfz 222 :-B

That's the chappie. Not a huge 250 fan ... but apparently Panzer Lehr used them, so Panzer Lehr had to have them.

I bought a new computer the other week. Had to say goodbye to my very old MS Office, and have moved to LibreOffice. It's free and so far does what I need. Biggest pain will be rewriting macros, but ... it's free and I resent giving Bill gates any more money.

I have used the time wisely, and can now put a number on my lead mountain ... 5768.

This being

  • 639 Ancients - Greeks, Cartaginians and Republican Romans
  • 400 Dark age - Byzantines and some Arabs
  • 389 Flodden English
  •   66 Samurai
  • 289 Korean war "extras"
  •    98 Sci Fi & zombie
  •    62 WWI 1:600 aircraft
  • 208 WWII 1:600 aircraft (1944 Pacific)
  •   47 WWII 1:600 ships
  •   19 1:2400 Triremes
  •   20 1:2400 Napoleonic warships
  • 2909 Napoleonics  :-[

An item could be a foot figure or a tank or a hairyplane.

Since I have averaged 301 items per month since February 2018, that means I have about 19 months painting in my lead mountain ... or 9 1/2 months until I have to start painting Napleonics.

Gentlemen!

More data!

My lead mountain stands at 5768. It is depleting at 301 items per month.

I have just worked out that I average 179 items purchased per month.

That means my lead mountain is depleting at a rate of 122 items per month.

This means my friends, that my lead mountain will be exhausted on 22nd July 2024.

And we all know what that means.  :(

Send no flowers. Maybe a "fond memories of Nobby" thread?

I'd like that.

No worries there Nobby, I am sure their are some armies you have yet to collect. Pendraken will also have more releases by then. Anyway none of the collections will be complete - there will always be another "must have " unit or Amy

And if you have exhuasted all the periods you are interested in, just decrease the figure to man ratio. At Zama Hanibal reputedly had 36,000 fot, 4000 cavalry and 80 elephants.  I bet you haven't even got the Elephants at a 1-10 Figure-Elephant ratio. And then you would need another 3500 figures for the rest of the army.

I am going to live to 183 so I can finish my lead mountain :)
