Well....

What excitement last night !
I'd just finished having a bath, (Yes, I do wash sometimes.  :P) when Von comes in from the horses.
"There's a snake in the barn."
"What species ?"
"I think it's an adder."
"I'll be there, in a tick...Go back and keep an eye on it."
"I've got a bucket on top of it."......Von goes back outside.

I hurriedly dry off....Sling some clothes on....Grab a "Wildlife" book and go outside.

Slowly lift the bucket.....Definitely an adder......Very young...Anything from just 'born' to perhaps a few days old....23 to 25cm in length ?....So CUTE.
Put bucket back on top...Leave Von on guard....Go and get camera and a piece of stiff cardboard to help get adder into bucket properly.

Take lots of piccies....Take a few minutes to get the wee beastie into the bucket. ...Fetch torch...Take bucket with wee adder in the bottom, 200 yards down the track opposite, and release onto the marshy area, with the words "DON'T GET BITTEN !", ringing in my ears !

As if...... 1)...I didn't fancy a late night trip to the local A&E. (Though the adder was small, I expect it might have made me a tad ill...and better safe than sorry.)
             2) ....I thought I'd never have lived that down with you lot !

Now, we'll have to keep our eyes open outside, for a while, as there could be anything up to another 20 'hatchlings' relatively close by, depending on just how old the little chap was, and how far he'd traveled.
More concerned that the dogs might come across more outside.

I'll pop some pics up later, if I can remember how to.

Cheers - Phil

One of my sister's kitties had the endearing custom of bringing newly-caught snakes into the house as little tributes. Never an obviously venomous one, which in South Africa was fortunate, but it was always a bit of a tense event.

Anyone else disappointed that the new file "Atomic Blonde" is not a biopic of Debbie Harry?

No, not really. However the film does include the track "Atomic" in it's soundtrack so she's in there ... sorta :)

When I read this initially I somehow thought that the snake was in the bath ( the adder so stop sniggering you lot).

A very interesting encounter, I don't think I have ever seen an Adder in the wild

It's the very first live one I've ever seen, Mark.

Seen a couple of dead ones, many years back...I must load the piccies onto the PC, tomorrow.

Right....See if I can remember how to post piccies.

Apparently not.....I'll be back.

Techno

Completely lost now.

I've got the images into my library.....and underneath the piccy(s) I've got 4 boxes underneath each image.

I THOUGHT what I did before was highlight IMG.....Right click to bring up 'copy' (then copy)....come back to the 'reply', on the forum.....Get the little image icon into the post , then paste what I'd copied from photobucket in there, which gave me a load of 'blurb' between [img] & [img].

But when I preview......There's none of that text there......Or any picture.

Any idea as to what I'm doing wrong ?...... Even if I get that done, I'm sure I'll then have to mess about trying to fathom out how to shrink the images, again.

Cheers - Phil

OldenBUA

From the page with the different links, try copying the 'direct' link between the two IMG tags. Though when I just tried this, I only get the 'upgrade your photobucket account'  picture, so maybe it will be the same for you.

Good idea Phil, perhaps we should all make Nobby our "Fag", We could find lots to keep him busy

Please note in this instance the meaning of "Fag" is -"a junior pupil at a public school who does minor chores for a senior pupil." :) :)

It is not slang for a tobacco product, not is it a reference to sexual preference.
