Finished off another contingent of my Stephen/Matilda forces (64 inf and 16 cav) and also the medieval baggage train (8 carts attended by defrocked monks).

Now thoroughly fed up with irregulars.

Torn between painting some interwar Middle east Brits to take on the Foreign Legion (look it's my game ... and if d_Guy can do it, I can) or perhaps starting some WWII Pacific.

Or WWII Poles.

Or Napoleonics.

Or some 1:600 aircraft - perhaps some WWII Pacific a/c.

Or finish the Dark Age fort ...

Or something else.

But not irregulars.

I feel your pain on Irregular troops.

Its so much easier to paint chaps in uniforms.

Middle East Brits vs FFL sounds good.

Defrocked monks would actually seem to me very uniform - lots of pink and buff...and given the diet of seeds and berries, rather regular also.
Encumbered by Idjits, we pressed on

Some people can be so literal!  >:(     :P

The're (mostly) the walking pose from the monks pack. I've painated them in a variety of colours so they can walk alongside the bagge carts.

They're defrocked - not sky-clad!

Hmmm ... same problem with Japanese tanks.

May have to be the 1920 Brits in the desert.

I did decide that the colour of their knees would define their status.

White knees - raw recruit
Red knees - been there a while
Brown knees - veteran.

Talk about being right behind the times.  X_X =)

I hadn't realised that British coins are coated steel, and therefore 'stickable' to magnetic material/ magnets.....Or they have been for a long, long time.
Don't know if this might be of the remotest interest for those of you that transport your figures......holding them in place with magnetic strip ?

Not sure if this will really have any practical implications for any of you....But I thought I'd mention it, as it might just be useful.

(I also have a new tip for getting the crud out of a saucepan, after it's boiled dry. This one doesn't involve making your kitchen smell like a 'chippy'.)  :D

I looked this up and its been since 1992, but I guess as coins last so long its taken a while to replace most of those in the system.

Its no surprise you have not notice because:-

a: Your still using "Groats"
b Mrs T has all the money for Gee Gees. :D

I have known for some time about this as I used to get my youngest to sort the magnetic "copper" coins out of my change, with the "bribe" that all copper ones she could keep.  This was when she was about 5 - she will be 18 at the end of the year!

Nah, Mark.....

It was from a roundabout conversation with the chap that's going to replace the MIL's shower unit.

We were discussing how to get the green algae stain, from the exterior paint on the house.

"I use chemical 'X'," said I.... (Vile stuff.)
"You want to try 'Y' " said Bob......He then went on to tell me that he'd used the same household product by simmering it (watered down) to get rid of the carbonised crud, in a saucepan he'd b*ggred......... before his better half spotted the damage.

He then reasoned that the solution would probably work well to clear the algae.....He was absolutely right !
Took a long time, going up and down the ladder.....(Spray on......Scrub with a soft brush.....Go down ladder....Get hose....Wait for Mrs T to switch hose on....Wash it off.....Go down ladder, and repeat ad nauseam.)....But job done.

I ache in places, that I didn't know I had places, this morning.  ;D ;D ;D

Cheers - Phil

I don't want to know how he sodomised a saucepan. But it sounds painful.
