We were plagued with flies in Afghanistan. As a NCO, I often had duty as Sergeant of the Guard (SOG) at the Entry Control Point (ECP). We'd put up a fly strip at the beginning of a shift and eight hours later, the damn thing would be black with the damnable things.

Boy.....Did I get suckered this morning.

Over the weekend, Mrs Techno made some comment about not doing her shop today, as the farrier was due to deal with some of the horses, later this fair morn.

"Oh...well......you don't want to do the shopping tomorrow....It's Christmas Eve, dear"....Said I before I'd engaged Mr Brain....."I'll go in really, really early and do your Mum's shopping and what we need as well."

MUPPET, Phil.

Such fun !! (In truth it could have been a lot worse !).....But doing one trip around the supermarket (for the silver haired Mother in Law).....cursing all the other folk that had been daft enough to get up early and block all the aisles.....going and putting that back in the car...THEN going back in and doing our own shopping.....and being back home before 9....is not the perfect start to the day, considering the weather out here at the moment.......VILE !!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

By the time I got back....Mrs T had only just woken....And the farrier was still at least half an hour away from arriving.

I'm 'pooped !. ;D ;D ;D

Cheers - Phil.

When you said you got "suckered", I thought this was going to be a story with a happy ending.

I spent this morning taking my mother to the hospital to have her eyes tested in prep for cataract removal. The appointment was at 8:30 and to be fair, it was only an hour all in, but as I pointed out to Ma, I have a mixed squadron of A9's, 10s and 13's to finish, and that maybe she should examine her priorities.   :P

Merry Christmas and a big thank you to anyone who works in these public services, not only for this time of year but throughout the year.

Was supposed to be driving down to Cornwall today. However nephew Carl, an officer in the D & C Constabulary, has just rung to say they have four trees down blocking various roads in their area. Think we'll put it off 'til tomorrow.  :o

It's been a bit windy here the past few days, but not especially cold yet.  Annoyingly though, the battery in Adele's car died overnight, so I had to stand there with the jump leads in the rain trying to get it going again.  Didn't work either, so we're going to have to pop some charge in it overnight and see if that works.  Then we might have to ask Santa for a new battery...

If your feeling suicidal

Not sure if that would go down too well, as she was with both the kids and our niece as well, so she was already tearing her hair out!
