Insight into what passes for my mind.

As you know, 2021 is the year of Nobby's Napoleonics.

I'm doing rather well: British, Brunswickers, Wurttembergers and Prussians done.

Starting the Bavarians.

Now, as you will be aware, the Bavarians favoured a colour called "cornflower blue". This is a sort of medium blue/grey. Or possibly quite a pale blue. Or a medium blue.

Anyway, for me, Cornflower blue came as Vallejo Pastel Blue. I've just painted the coats of the 1st Bttn 7th Infantry. It struck me that the Pastel Blue was somewhat akin to the French Horizon Blue of  1916.

Soooo ... I've just spent 20 minutes reviewing Pendraken WWI ranges.

This was not covered in the Wargames Survey!

Nobody expects the Spanish Inqusition - our weapon is suprise and a fanatical devotion to the Pope....

Inspiration for my Irregular Wars armies.

Don't laugh. It may well happen.   :-[

After all, I did buy about 200 figures and a half dozen vehicles because I wanted to paint giraffes.

Prussians done

Just the Guard. 2 regiments of Infantry, 1 bttn of Jaeger. 2 rgts of cav and 2 batteries

Only the 1st bttn 1st Regiment has the outlandish plumes.

Light cavalry then Gd du Corps. Artillery at the back (awaiting limbers and cassions)

The (unnamed) general surrounded by cheering ADCs. Where he got the standards from I have no idea.

I think I need to invest in some photo software. Colour balance is all off.

I'd burn you a copy of the old prog, that I use....except that it's probably hidden in the loft...and I'd never be able to find it

Whenever I change things with photos.....I get umpteen choices..which I haven't put on the PC.....I always assumed that those were there fo anyone to use ?

Cheers - Phil. :)

Curious? Have been unable to find any reference to military use of Giraffes. Used to 'flush' snipers in trees? Fitted with a Headcam... or small child... used for scouting?
Just about every other creature has had some sort of 'cavalry' function, from catalogue perusal. Do you have reliable source reference?

Nice Prussians!

Nah. Just wanted to paint giraffes, so I had to find an interesting sub-Saharan campaign, and I alighted upon the WWI in East Africa ... which meant I could paint giraffes, and elephants, and hippos and crocs.

Just need a WWI German light cruiser in 1:150.

Thank you. I've mucked up a bit, because I plan on the Prussian Guard being paired with elements of the Russian guard ... but I've started buying Austrians instead of Russians.  :(

Black ?  :-\

That might have explained things regarding the exposure of the photo, if you had the camera/phone set to auto....Though theoretically, it should have almost 'bleached' out the figures themselves....and it doesn't look like it's done that.....The figures look really good. :-bd

Why the background's shifted to blue is a wee bit strange.....That could be down to the colour balance/'temperature' of the lights ?.....Or maybe the background is an astonishingly dark blue.

Must admit I'm a bit puzzled.

Cheers - Phil. :)

My frequent advice, the edges of those flags would look a lot better with a touch of paint, in this case the black standard
