Thanks for the offer Nik . Chatting with our neighbour a few days ago she said that in the 60's nobobdy locked their garages! How times have changed .

It's still like that over here nowadays Steve.
Quite a few folk still don't lock their houses or cars.
I can't get out of the habit of locking everything though....Even to the point of double chaining field gates, so they can't be lifted off the hinges easily.

There's a side door as well Leon, which I use everyday as that where my bike is stored. We are also unusual in that we actually keep out car in the garage overnight, rather than leaving it on the road. Luckily we don't use it that much so not a big pain day-to-day. We've had at least 6 break ins and I'm not sure how many attempted over the past few months on the back lane that links our houses. The tea leafs used to do one or two then disappear for a year or two, this time they seem to be trying every garage!

Well..been to the pub too long on saturday ("we drink two or three beers and then go home at 12"..as always didn't quite work out like that  ), but nevertheless finished my 1914 Germans this weekend (this is going to be my entry for the 'anything goes' category..quite an incentive this painting competition)..can't wait for the French to arrive
