Idle query while waiting for my coffee to start gurgling through

Do other gamers use imaginary regimental names in primarily historical armies? I, for instance, have always included a 54th Hampshire in all my horse and musket British armies, and have named a number of Germanic or semi- regiments after my Afrikaans first wife. Does anybody else practise this custom?

I think I probably would for my AWI Maurice armies, just for a bit of fun and individuality. I wouldn't object if my opponnets in games came up with fictitous names for their units either. After all it is only a game!

Yes, indeed. See my "Au Valley" batrep which includes the 1st Rutlands (Rutland is hardly big enough to raise a company) and the Jersey Yeomanry (Jersey being an island in the Channel where, as you might expect, tanks are fairly thin on the ground)  :D

Bonkers as the rest  ;)

My current Pendraken ECW project (which is in the doldrums for some reason) will include various regiments from an old 25mm ECW project from my schooldays, which were named after characters in a Henry Treece novel about the war. Pride of place will go to Carey's Foot, and tu update thinsg a little I think there may well be a unit of Stryker's Horse on the painting stocks soon.

I've always fancied fielding a KG Hartenholz for my next BKC game. Equipped with Panzers, ofcourse.  Whether any such game would count as historical in the first place is entirely up to you.  :P
Water is indeed the essential ingredient of life, because without water you can't make coffee!

Thoroughly silly idea!

Which is why my characters James Morgan, Klautz von Bunnywitz, Marcel du Troy and even the great profit of the Upper Nile Al-Lemarus el- Leparus, Nubian Lord of liberation (known as Mad Lemmey to his friends) would all approve!  8)

And what is the profit of the Upper Nile, Lemmey? Four camels, six sheep and a goat?  :D
