Hi

Does anyone have a suggestion for a Vallejo paint for the French overcoats? I have though Dark prussian or just Dark Blue.

Thanks

Simon

For the overcoat I would recommend neither.  The French tunic was dark blue,  and your choices would work for that, but the greatcoat was much lighter. Sorry, I cannot recall what I used for mine, might have been medium blue, at least for the highlights!

I use a thin layer of Dark Blue Grey and then a Vallejo Blue wash on top

Are there any color uniform plates out there showing the French in overcoats? I'm about to paint some of them and am glad I saw this post first.  I just want to be sure I get the color reasonably correct.

This is a tricky one because contemporary plates tend to show either a mid or even light blue. However contemporary artists, eg. de Neuville show it as a very definite darker bluish-grey. I have adopted the following which works well - Vallejo Oxford Blue 70807 dry brushed with Dark Blue Grey 70904.
