Does anyone have a photo of the what its meant to look like?

cheers, DaveT.

I've not got one, but assuming it's a caisson & limber, it should (presumably) look like this Perry one? ('cept smaller, natch  ;))

If that's not it, can you take a quick pic of its component parts?

Leon

Yep, it's kinda like that.  There should be two caissons, two limbers, 8 wheels, 6 horses, and 2 riders, so each limber/caisson should have 4 horses total, 1 of them ridden.  They then fit together like the Perry pic, the only difference being that there aren't any riders, and we don't have the spare wheel mounted on the back of the caisson.  This is something we'll be remedying in the new range.

There is a bit of a mistake actually in the old range, as caissons should really have a team of 8 horses, and we should only be putting one pair of caissons/limbers in a pack.  We've made the same mistake in the FPW range, and always send out more caissons and limbers than there are horses to pull them!

I put together the four I have and this is the result.  They look okay, but would benefit from a passengers on the caisson or similar as they are a bit bare.

Dave,

I'm not a riding man, but I think the man on the horse (technical term anyone?) should be on the front left horse, not the front right. I think this is because of his need to control the other horse with his right hand.  Anyone else able to deliver chapter and verse on this?

Dear Non-Equestrian,
Thank you for your astute observation, the outrider should indeed be on the left with his whip in his right hand and his leg iron fitted to his right leg.
Yours sincerely,

Hmm not wishing to rebase all my limbers I may need to look for states that have a large number of left handed riders...... ;)

Massachusetts would be my bet. Never trusted them!  :P

Dave T,

I sympathise, I got repetitive strain injury from de and re basing forty limbers I had got assembled and painted for me, where I had not  clearly specified the relative positions of the "outriders" in my instructions!  I still have my 1870 Bavarian limbers and caissons to do, but I am awaiting the recovery of full sensation in my fingertips!

Thanks Lemmy, I'll start quoting that Massachusetts had mostly left handed riders from now on.

Give it 5 years on the internet andd it will be accepted histroy to cofuse the next generation of wargamers!
