Well now, here's a nice surprise - I'd forgotten that Kings of War doesn't use figure removal & therefore is eminently playable with 10mm figures based in units...

Yeah I downloaded them to have a look at but there based on individual figures from the quick look I've had, so units can range from 5+ upwards......I do like the look of them but the basing might be awkward
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

I don't think it matters - if you were to think of bases or unit sizes rather than individual figures...

So:
- a 5 figure unit = skirmish base
- a 10 figures unit = single base
- a 20 figure unit = two bases
- a 40 figure horde = three/four bases

It'd be a bit abstracted, but with no figure removal it'd work I think...might give it a try - just cos the rules are seriously simple and would play quickly as well as being easy enough for my 5 yr-old to suss...

And it's a good excuse to get some fantasy armies  :d

I think I might stick with Fantasy Impetus..although Kings of War is worth a go

I'll stick with Warmaster anyway I think - but might use these for the young 'uns  :)

There's a good bit of discussion about them in ep 2 of the Mantic Games podcast (on iTunes)

One of their concepts is that it is very strictly igo ugo with no enemy player interaction during your phase - making it very suitable for chess clock play

Nik is thinking what Im thinking. My 6yr old is starting to want to wargame, especially after going to Reveille this weekend. I reckon a fantasy game would float his boat (especially after reading the Hobbit to him) and these Kings of War mini rules look perfect for him. I might have to get a couple of small armies from the fantasy range.

My initial thoughts were orcs and dwarves but I cant find any dwarf pics- anyone got any?
