Just received the rules through the post. Was going to go with Force on Force for the Falklands range but decided to try something different and my initial quick read through has got me excited (falklands war mentioned on page 1 and 3 as well as through the book). They seem a bit complicated wonder if anyone else has played or tried these rules?

IMHO you will be much better off using Cold War Commander for Falklands - the rules you are talking about are impenetrable terrain covered in smoke..... :)

try here:-

rules are £12 for pdf and contain all force listings etc - brilliant forum to support them as well, scenarios, decent sort of chaps on the forum too
That is the sort of bloody nonsense up with which I will not put - Winston Churchill

Nothing wrong with WRG rules, if you are prepared to read each paragraph out loud 3 or 4 times with appropriate pauses for the commas, cos thats what it takes to understand what the author meant. Theyre all written in a form of English known as Barkerese, basically to close all exploitable loopholes.

Played them many, many years ago and thought they'd fossilised. Don't recall much about them except that we never used them again. Nuff said?  :(
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Having read the rules about 20 times and even converted it into my language decided some bits are good some not so, like the orders system and communication and axis of attack.I think ill hold out for cold war commander 2 when its released and stick with force on force. Going to base the Falklands figs as fireteams using FOW small bases or some MDF bases :-\ so ill be able to do both.IABSM also has rules for Falklands war in a special so that might be worth a look.

I played them many years ago...I think I have a headache coming on just thinking about it..

People will be trying to bring back Challenger 2000 next!
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Ahh Challenger 2000... Happy (Club competition playing) days, if we ever made it past round 2.
My Belgians suffered many great defeats to armys they couldn't touch (Leopard 1s vs M1A3 Abrahams & Challengers), but did pull the odd win out the bag.
Especially when someone tried to land Cheesy US Marines in chinooks in front of my Belgian infantry.

"Belgians, what can they do to me..."
"Well, they make Milan anti-tank missiles."
"...and?"
"Ever wondered what the heat signiture of a chinook is?"

My opponent disappeared to talk to the gent from the club who was an active member of the TA after leaving the regulars at the time (and was a trained Milan operator).

"So... Milans are heat seeking..."

He wasn't expecting that, he thought he's avoided the Geppard AA masdked by the nearest hill.

Now if we were talking "Challenger II". 2000 was an abortion I agree, it all turned on 1 die roll, who moved first.

Challeger 2 was quite good, though I think people tried to play games that were too big with it ie the Worlds at Derby...
