Sir,

I wish to complain about your War of Spanish Succession Austrians.  Frankly they are cowards.

Tonight they were charge by damn'd Frenchies, and despite delivering effective fire, then holding them in hand to hand combat they ran away, and so did the battaillions supporting them.

This is in contrast to their Prussian allies.  Despite being charged in the flank ony one uint retired, the others cooly turning to face and fight their attackers.  However please arrange for some officers who are able to issue correct orders - the reason they were charged in the flank were that after delivering withering fire at 45 paces, they interpreted the order CHARGE as "turn to the flank, and march in column across the front of the enemy"

What ever metal you use for the Prussians please use them for the Austrians.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

I think it varies from batch to batch. Recent 'what if' battle against Johnny Turk had my brave Austrians fighting a blinder, whilst the skulking cowardly Prussians were to be honest a liability on the field!

They went further back than forwards! If it wasn't for the French mercs the whole flank would have crumbled.

Dodgy batch of cowardly metal mix snuck in I feel  :-[

So visa versa on the metal mix you use for Last Hussars troops please.

Maybe it would be cheaper if your could just recast the spines, then we could refit without too much damage to paintwork.

What do you think LH, best option?

Haven't you noticed that it's always your best-painted, best based figures that run like rabbits?  :'(

I'm going to have to check the figures, I don't recall painting a yellow stripe down their back.

Is it the make of paint your using...I can see GW paint being a cowardly type of paint..and Vajello being somewhat braver and craft paint the sort of paint that creates wishy washy militia types. Maybe humbol old and steadfast would produce braver troops
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Possibly it's just down to the superior generalship of your opponent?  ;) :d

Order of rout in any Wargames army:
1) New unit that has never been on table before (usually after the first shot and taking little or no casulties)
2) Best painted unit on table and/or army elite (as above).
3) The C-In-C
4) The 2-I-C.
5) That 'surprise' unit of cavalry, hideously expensive elite and designed to win the game (Ironsides, winged Hussars, Catafractorii etc as they are about to charge for the first time, usually accompanied by a slow handclap by the owning player's forces as they leg it past them)
6) The unit that, if it roll anything but a '1' will win you the game...
7) The majority of your army.

Leaving the rabble, who you didn't want to get involved, to take the damage, break HIS elite, follow up into HIS C-In-C and thence to win you the game...

Which is why I'm concentrating on rabble units from now on!!!!  ;)

Personally, I recommend bare-arsed Irish kerns, especially for taking on men-at-arms in full plate backed up by elite longbowmen.

Failing that, a small boy with a stick seems to do the trick!
