Bah, we tried!  We went 1-0 down, and then tried to attack too much.  The 4-0 was a bit of a harsh result, but that was the Sevilla team who finished 3rd in La Liga the following year I think.

And we never got half the credit that Fulham / Roy Hodgson did when they did the same thing a couple of years back.

It was actually the UEFA Cup-Winners Cup, Phil, in 98. They beat Stuttgart 1-0 in Stockholm and then went on to beat Real Madrid in the Super Cup by the same score.

I don't know much about Kissball (if I did would I admit to having supported Leeds for more years than is healthy), but isn't 3rd in La Liga like 3rd in the Ryman's League?

Considering the Europa Cup was an all-Spanish final this year, and they provided two of the four semi-finalists in the Champion's League - probably closer to the second division.
