As I am just being drawn as if by a magnet (magnets & lead??) towards AVBCW, can anyone advise me as to whether it would be better to use later WWI or WWII BEF troops for regular army units?

You can use both to be honest as the uniform was in a state of change at this time. Personally I've used WWI Brits as they will also be used as second line/communication units in France 1940.

I've used a mixture of both in my Royalist Yeomanry - have a look here: http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,5005.0.html

Whatever you want to do - it is NOT historical!

You can have Scottish regiments from WW1 and BEF WW2 - you can have late WW1 Germans or early WW2 Germans - who have landed in support of the BUF - it is up to your imagination - enjoy!

There is fast becoming a received wisdom about the BCW - forces must have Anglican league etc and must be set in 1937 or whatever - whereas for me I would rather just take the basic scenario of the refusal to abdicate, the country dividing into factions and then dump a German invasion on top - all happening some time in the 1920's - 1930s - mix it all up.

Why Not?
That is the sort of bloody nonsense up with which I will not put - Winston Churchill

Course the most logical time for the civil war would be 1914 - after a munity at The Curagh.

I like your thinking Rob, my long planned campaign seems to be going that way. One day i'll actually get around to putting it on the table =)
