Hi lads....here's a sample 100pt British Army for Maurice....all the miniatures are in 10mm scale and based so that they can be used for Maurice and Might and Reason (more bang for your buck ;)) Miniatures by Pendraken.

2 x Elite infantry ...Grenadiers, Blackwatch
6 x Regular infantry.
4 x Artillery.
1 x Elite Cavalry.
3 x Regular Cavalry.
National Advantage  Lethal Volleys

The Sheffield and Rotherham club have now got quite a collection of armies...ie Prussians, Austrians, French, Bavarians so a few campaigns will hopefully be taking part as well. My next army will probably be the Ottoman Turks and possibly the Polish :)

looking forward to the release of Maurice :)

Paul "Duke of Clarkeshire" :)

Great looking army. Just ordered my copy of Maurice now all I need is to paint my figures and find an opponent near Poole.

Fantastically painted, good job!!

Ben Waterhouse

That's a nice compact little force, I like it.

Roy

those are really nicely done - good photo shots too

I recognise Might & Reason but what is Maurice?
Rimmer: "Aliens."

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

Serotonin

Oh man this isnt helping me not get into another period. Lovely figures!

So is that size force pretty standard for Maurice then? Doesnt look very expensive to field one. I make that about 140 infantry figs and a few horses. Not going to cost much from Pendraken.

Oh shoot me now.  :D

Those Scots are a real inspiration - but which cavalry code is it that has the double-drum drummer among the command?

Really nice looking figures. Looking at the compact size of this as an army, I think I may give Maurice a further look as I have enough British painted already, so would just need to paint up some French, hmmm....

Just a note the above untis are half size maurice uses four bases per unit except guns which are singles

Leman

Lovely looking army. Still prefer square bases though. Just  been thoroughly tw***ed in my first game of Maurice. Not a great idea to charge infantry in a wood! :'(

Ah - no, they're not....Maurice suggests 'squarish' bases: so if you imagine these as four square bases (2 per rectangle) then they're full size. You can play easily enough with rectangles that are twice as wide as they are deep - they do look odd when marching in column as they will be perpendicular to their direction of travel - it's a minor point though & means that I don't have to rebase my existing SYW Austrians & Prussians. Next armies for Maurice / anyWM variant will get based onto 25x25 bases though - four figures per base, four to a unit = 16 figures...like it  8)

Leman

Yes,although I'm a heavy on the figures man myself - now base Pendraken SYWs on 25x25 at 4x2 per base (heretically Old Glory 5x2). The dense figures do look good. Similarly cavalry on the same base in 3s, so I use 12 cavalry and a full pack of infantry per batallion/cavalry regiment.

Have you got a copy of the PDF NIK? while it suggest squarish and yes doubles of the Might and Reason rules work well on their forum one chap has three bases per unit which works fine, Sam just suggests he gets the fourth as all units have four bases which was my point.

Personally using 4 30x20 fo infnatry with 8 figs a base and 30 x40 for cav just because I like large cav units  ;)

Um...yes, I do have the PDF. What you were originally saying Rex was that Paul's army here was half-sized because it is using two bases. My point is that the two rectangular bases are the equivalent of four square bases:and that, therefore, this army is fine for both Maurice and Might and Reason & not half-sized at all.

Correct and I suggest we are saying much the same thing  ;) my main reason for the original post was to suggest to the people who may yet not have a copy was that each unit is a group of four bases whether they be square or rectangle so I am also not wrong just annally pedantic  :D
