I think its that Ernie used to say "Sure, Bert" as an afirmative,  which sounded a lot like "sherbert".

Not sure the forum gets credit for that meme; dissemination of photographs of attractive women has been going on the net for a while now. In fact that may be the reason the net was invented in the first place.
