My eye sight has deteriorated over the years and I can only do "simple" schemes. As such while the effect has recieved some kind reviews they don't hold up under the 6" microscope.  Fine from 2 foot away.

White undercoat, quick thinned base coats of the main colours, flesh, Weapons, Wood and "Striking" colours such as pennons then a GW Agrax Earthshade wash.

The bases are old GW Graveyard Earth with a heavy drybrush of Desert Yellow and then more GW Burnt Grass.

That's where they are normally viewed from, Si. No one would expect a 10mm figure to stand up against a 28mm painted-for-competition item. Yours are well above average, believe me. :-bd

Lovely stuff mate.

Love the spent shells on the artillery.

Not sure about the colour of the tank though.  Did they paint them grey?

Front cover of "A New Excalibur" by A J Smithers has several in what I took to be a lightish Grey colour.  Battleship Grey also used early on but that would have been a lot darker.  Obviously some Camouflage schemes and plain green also in existance but I wanted something simple to start with (especially as the Western Front wasn't meant to be a major project ;)).  The next one is going to have some Camouflage on it (to match the A7V) and will be a captured machine for my later German forces.  The next British Empire one will probably be a similar Grey scheme to this one but only for harmony.

Si Tyler

Add the A7V which arrived the other day.

2 Battalions of Stormtroopers are undercoated along with 2 Flamethrower Teams (2 Figs on a base).  Hopefully have them done by Monday.  The Brown and Yellow for the A7V seem to work okay so that will be the helmet colours for lightening them up a bit

The project hasn't seen a lot of activity for a while as I have been off painting airplanes again.  However, I took the suggestions of untidy bases and shell holes to see what I could come up with.  The next stage of the project will see a number of these 2 figure bases being added to the existing Division (12 in total).  This will then throw up enough infantry for another four battalions which will be added to the second Division which I have now started.  It will mean adding Corps Artillery etc to the mix but hey ho!

Like the understated shell-holes, Si. It's very easy to go over the top with this sort of thing.

Still "All quiet on the WWI Front" ..   :'(

Keep checking hoping you'll add some more pics and how-to's etc ..   I'm particularly interested in colour choices as I can't seem to get my own Germans the right shade of grey.   :(

So nearly a year since WW1 had any major love given to it.  Discovered Airsoft which has been a bit of a distraction for both time and spending power.

No eye candy just yet but little bit of narrative of where the Russian and German forces are going in the next month or so before I switch down to the Late War French army that is still sat in the painting box

http://cag19.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/great-war-eastern-front-updates.html

Essentially, the new WW1 moulds are out and the figures ordered, plenty of Cavalry to be getting on with, no where near enough infantry but, with the exception of the marching poses, a repeat of previous units to crack through about 300 figures.

Si Tyler

Based the majority of the salute purchases for the next phase.
German 1st Infantry Division troops are all cleaned up and ready as are the div cavalry. I Haven't looked at regimental HQ bases yet for these.
The balance of the 1st Cav Div are also ready for the brush.
Russian infantry for III Corps need a lot more infantry, as there are only 9 battalions in the order.  Somewhere in the region of 15 more battalions if I include the rifle brigade will be needed.
The corps cavalry however have enough units with the additional packs to go to four 6 squadron regiments. I have the second brigade commander done but need to find something for the Div HQ
