Not sure how commited to this I will be, but I'd quite like the feedback on my painting as I think I'm fairly good, if a little out of practice...

However, this is surely to change since I have a HELL of a lot of British WW2 to paint for 10mm FoW. To kick off, here's a platoon of Para rifles about halfway painted, some parts I'm really happy with, others I'm not so sure but then I'm trying to work out the colours as I go (I'd have prefered a slightly lighter base coat on the jacket (maybe a light drybrush once the denison camo is finished) and need to darken the trousers a little). I'm also not convinced the photo is very good, have to get the wife's photography setup out and try to take some better ones in the daylight.

Maybe later I'll get all the assembled models out and give you an idea of the size of the task I have ahead...

Good stuff.

I think I agree that a lighter shade for the smocks would be good, I think I went with desert yellow for mine
http://www.kerynne.com/games/BritishParas.html  the photos a bit down the page show the smocks better, but at this scale it's hard to take clear photos of the cammo.

Or.........

You could try my usual trick, dark figures, lighten the basing, light figures, darken the basing, it works, makes 'em really pop.

They look good to my none ww2 eyes!

There were two really good articles in Issues 4 & 5 of Battlegames that specifically looked at painting British Paras in 10mm for FOW. I remember them being pretty good articles (and the rest of the magazine is awesome too!) - it looks like they've still got back issues available

Okay, my wife is much better at photos than me! (She does a lot of it though, she makes and sells jewellery) Click to make it bigger.

In the words of Shrek "That'll do donkey, that'll do"

Bit of static grass and they look good to go.

Don't forgot the red berets (more burgundy than bright red)

Yep, I've got the brown on the jackets, brown on the helmets, berets, webbing, guns, boots, highlight mortar/piat/radio then the basing to finish yet...

I'm known for being somewhat fussy as a painter lol

So, hard at work as always finally got some more pics taken.

I've finished the 1st Platoon short of adding static grass and starting the 2nd, lets see what you think...

1st Platoon

2nd Platoon

(And yes, I know the platoon numbers are the wrong way around on the image titles, can't be bothered to fix it yet!)

I'll be painting markings on the rear edge of the base denoting Company / Platoon / Section (possibly)
