Title says it all really!
These are the two untis of Chasseurs who fought at Mars La Tours (2nd Chasseurs d’Afrique + 2nd Chasseurs), rather than escourting Napoleon III to Chalons. Double based as they fought as a brigade.
Plus the horse artillery for VI Corps!

Still getting teh hang of my new macro-lens!

Use a tripod Lemmy, and stop down the lens as far as it will go... Set the self timer on the camera, then it won't matter how long the exposure is...because you won't be having to hold it still. (and get camera shake)

If you can stop down to f22/32 or greater that will work 'spiffingly.'.....Don't necessarily focus on the figures closest to the camera lens....You can go in a little way from the front with a small aperture.... (Says Phil teeing up Lemmy for yet another double entendre  ;D ;D ;D )

Happy New Year to all - Cheers - Phil.

(They look damn fine even so Lemmy....Bloody good job Matey  :-bd :-bd)

Despite the slightly blurred images, the massed effect does look great.

Nice one, Lemmy. Any fool can paint infantry standards; cavalry standards sort the men from the boys.  ;)
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

fred.

Very nice, I particularly like the basing of the cavalry, very dynamic.

I echo
Techno's comments about the photography, a tripod is essential, to allow a large apperture. If you camera is small you can use a small table top tripod that should be available for a few quid. Even a big tripod starts at around £15 and are perfectly good for use indoors.

Great basing again Lemmy. I always look forward to seeing your work.

Greetings

Very nice and really evocative of the era.

It almost convinces me to do my 1870 figures this way but I think I'm going down a route of trying to represent lower level tactics (I've been reading C19th sources as well as Petain's On Infantry lecture of 1911 (where he used parts of Mars le Tour as a detailed example)).

Thank you, Cav is 3" x 3", artillery is 1.5" x 3"...
Thanks! An impressive work and I like a lot the big bases for this small scales.
