SYW Artillery Poses

Hi
Each pack comes with six foot figures. I can identify a man with a ramrod and another with a touchpaper (sorry, can't recall technical term) but am stumped by the other four.
Help pleaase.

Well, there's one with a cannonball, and one with a level to push the gun left or right for aiming.  I generally take the ones with their coats on as officers, one looks to me like he's reading something or just standing around being nervous.  The other in the French set is a pointing guy with telescope.  The non-coated are generic across all sets (that I have so far).

Yep, each crew has the four generic types without hats.  One with ramrod, one lighting the fuse, one to pivot the gun, and the one with the cannonball.  The extra two with headwear are the nation specific extra poses, and can be fitted in where you like.

P.S. Am I right in thinking I shouldn't use the ramrod figure with a howitzer?

Yep, we still put them in with the Howitzer packs though just in case people want to use them for conversions or on other stands.

Having researched a little further, maybe the ramrod/rammer could be painted as a sponge/sponger? I presume a howitzer barrel would have to be cleaned out after each shot, like  an ormal artillery piece, if only to remove sparks?

Then  the only "superfluous" figure would be the guy with the shot, and I am confident of being able to paint around that!
