The cover page of this website shows ISU 152s and Russian infantry advancing through some very good looking barbed wire.

Is this commercially avaliable in 10mm ?  Beats twisting the stuff out of fuse wire to represent the barbs !

Any hard info on the source of this very good looking wire ?

This is the most commonly used stuff that I've seen. Works well for 10mm and up and looks the dogs danglies. Simply wind around a suitable sized tube, stretch out to size and Hey Presto! you have your barbed wire. Great value as well.

Many thanks for this good info and contacts. I ordered my wire this morning. - UK postage cost almost as much as the product.  Leon is this an item Pendraken could add to the 'one stop shop' ?

Those are my Russians! :) It is indeed the stuff from Antenoceti. I think it was originally intended for the bigger scales, but it works well with 10s.

Steve J

I think you're right KD. However, it does look too big for 6mm, where normal electrical wire would be fine.

Very possibly, I'd need to get hold of a sample of it first, but I'm sure I could sort something out.

Very nice work KD, the wire looks like what the Warminister Sof I used to term the 'razor' variety.   Your work and presentation had inspired me to buy some.
As you say- its does look well with your 10mm.   With a little bit of lobbying (pester power) perhaps we can get these cottage industries to produce more in 10mm/N gauge.

Hi Leon

I for one would buy some if you decided to stock  :)

Yeah, barbed wire in quantity is always useful.

Is this imminent Leon?

I'd prefer to buy from you, and i'll be kicking off the orders for my new project in the next week or two.

Nope, not at the moment.  I'd need to pick up a sample at the next show, and then see if I can get it wholesale, or find a similar supplier for it.  At the moment, I've got too many other things on the burner to put a lot of time into other bits.

Hi

As a cheap alternative try using good quality thread - such as stuff from Langton's for the rigging of 1/1200 ships - superglued around pins stuck into thick plastic card and spayed a dullish grey. That way you can make the more common barbed wire fences of late C19th - C20th rather than just the coils.

In 10mm you do not really need so see the barbs the wire is enough

See below for some examples
