Hi

I came across a Furuta train listed as 1/170:-

Has anybody tried this with Pendraken figures/vehicles? I was thinking of using it as the basis of an armoured train but was just wondering if anybody had actually played with it.

Cheers

Have not seen them in the flesh, but 1/170 is on the small side. I picked up non running British N gauge on ebay which work well,- also fit the tracks -  and don't forget the Boer war train/engins and guns in Pendraken.

Might it not be cheaper to get spare wheeles and things from a raliway show, and scratch the body, after all most wont show under the tin plate.

I've got a couple of n-scale locos at home, I'll take a pic with some pendraken figures tonight.

The trains are more around 1:200th - 1:300th

Their aircraft are viable.

I have quite a number now, Their inter war biplanes (VBCW) some of their WW2 stuff, and jets (for banana republic games, their Sabres, Migs and Thunderjets are particularly good)

Their Hueys in particular are a bit small but very good.

The advantage is they are plastic, not heavy lead or delicate resin. So flight stands are not top heavy and they are damage resistant.

obviously the trick is to hunt around.

As to trains, there was a part work that did static models of trains in N Guage. Worth looking out for.

My n-guage track is in hiding at the mo, but in case anyone might find this helpful here's an n-guage loco (the electric motor is quite dead, which made it essentially free) with some Pendraken infantry along side.

Does anyone one know a UK trains shop with a good n-guage stock (preferably running to kits and unpainted) that takes pay-pal or money-order and has decent shipping policies?  European railcars (wagon? british included) are very different than North American and the few Canadian stockists charge black market prices and have a spotty selection.  Three or for common boxcars and a couple of flatcars and my needs would be met.  The Pendraken Boer war wagons will be a help, but there are still some bits and pieces I need.

And thanks for the link above; those are darned good prices.

Hi All

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't able to get an idea of that particular Furuta train but I did find what the diameter of an American cent was - 19.05 mm so that locomotive would still be too small  :(.

Thanks for the link, most of the Del Prado sellers however don't want to sell to me, either because I'm in Australia or my reputation precedes me  ;D ;D. I might have to see about a shipping agent similar to that which is available in America. I'm currently trying one out on a vendor that refuses to sell outside the borders.

Sorry for the delayed reply, been away to a festival.

As a UK resident my search is obviously skewed. Was there not a release of that series down under? Possibly under a different name?

Sunray

Yes - lots of useful links here.  Many thanks - When Hurrah gets time perhaps he will post some images of biplanes with Pendraken figures ?  That would be most helpful.

Well, that might be a while due to lack of suitable photographic eqipment.  :-w (For an allegedly techy geek, I'm, a serious luddite!)

When I get a chance, I'll see of ROTs camera is up to it.

Cool, I'm not around next weekend (larp seasons ending weekender), but I am around this one.

Oh, Swordfish anyone? Needs a repaint  ;)

it allegedly comes out around 1:180. Certainly next to pendraken figures on the table top it is a little on the small side, but not bad

60mm tip or prop to end of tail
Fuselage 6mm wide
