- on soft skins gthe entire vehicle was painted same colour, often with the mickey mouse ear cammo. - But I do as you do and paint the canvas a different colour.

Think it's an 'Airfix generation' thing always done the same myself though I am considering doing the canvas in a lighter shade of the body colour instead. Recently changed my LW German canvas tilts from grey to dark yellow so perhaps the Allies should follow suit.

Nice job Nic, but no tac signs ?

Don't you start... ;)

Right - anyone got any decent pics that will help me sort these then...I'm chasing my tail tonight & seem to find contradictory pics left, right & centre...?

Thanks Forbes - appreciated [I still think that camo scheme looks bobbins though  ;D]

Another question - my internet meanderings tonight seem to suggest that not all units used this hideous camo but that it was down to the discretion of individual commanders? And for every pic of one in MM camo I can find more that are plain...

What about the Dingos? Plain?

Tactical markings - anyone got an idiot's guide? Colour / shape / location...again, my searching is throwing up all kinds of info - too many woods, not enough trees!

My Google-fu is weakened...I feel like a complete duffer tonight  :(

Dazza

I only use the red square and 55 , 56 or 57, then they can be any regiment on here :)  http://britmods.freehosting.net/infdiv.htm

can use them for any Division then :)

THese tanks are :

11th Armoured Division: 23rd Hussars  'C' Squadron   (the black bull on yellow, red square with number 51 in white, red circle on turret   :)  )    didnt want to use Shermans so gave them cromwells :p

Dingos I think would be plain

As you say different units went for disruptive patterns or not, on their softskins.

Dazza's links give you all the badges. But not sure there was one that says what goes where
Arm of service badge (coloured square with white number) on the right hand side
divisional badge on the left side (though there are plenty of examples the other way round)
both on front and back

AT and field guns had no markings

Re the Cromwells

In 11th AD Cromwells should have Green over blue 45, for the armoured recce regt. Only in 7th AD would the red be right as they and all Cromwells

I dont disagree Fred, that would make them 15/19 King's Royal Hussars - Armoured Recce Regt.

But I already had them so gave another regiment some spare Cromwells found on the beach :)
